Lol fine be content with above average players and maybe making the playoffs every now and again, and those awesome bottom of the first round picks. I'm jsut saying demand better for one of the elite nba players in his prime, but that's probably why the NBA owns your team because ya'll just don't care.

Where in the hell was Gilbert during the lockout....if the a-hole didn't like the possibility of something of a superstar holding a gun to the franchise why in the hell didn't he blow the whistle and demand better before voting in favor?

It doesn't matter how "attractive" the package is, Paul is only going to sign an extension with a select handful of clubs...it is his leverage. Boston is not on the list. There isn't a team in the league willing to give up anything of value without an extension already agreed upon.

I saw Paul demand a trade to NY not LA, what changed

FWIW, thanks to the new CBA no player will ever sign another extension. You can get longer deals by signing new contracts than you can by extending current contracts. So any team that trades for Paul will be taking a gamble that he leaves.
The Lakers are betting that he stays, which is why they were willing to give up Odom and Gasol for him. The Clippers aren't so sure about that bet, which is why they aren't willing to give up Eric Gordon or the Minny #1 pick.
It's a terrible terrible provision in the CBA. I have no idea how it got in there or which side supports it.

Its a saftey button for stupid owners that give ridiculous contracts. Now when they give those stupid contracts to a player, they are stuck with him for a little shorter than before

Fair enough...

Unlike the Gasol trade, the Hornets and Dell wanted and need current high-level ballers to generate buzz by competing for wins, not draft picks to be developed slowly..
Gilbert makes great points in the grand scheme of the health for the overall league and going forward..
But, by NOH's current needs, Paul's expiring, no current local ownership, and NBA attendance mandates in regards to Nawlins when the Saints and LSU Football having this state's full attention, this was gonna be a good deal for all involved.

Unless I missed someone, the only player I could maybe get excited about is Martin, and he played a combined total of 46 games the 2 years before last.
He played 97 games the 2 years combined. Not that that is good or anything.

fwiw, I'm pretty sure in this trade we would have had to get rid of Okafor's contract for it to work. Getting rid of Okafor would make this trade a success, not to mention Kevin Martin has a PER over 21 and is an elite scorer. Luis Scola is a tougher David West and would actually probably save us money with us not having to overpay West for this season.
Then if we could have flipped Odom for something, we would have come away looking so much better.

We could trade for Rondo and Jeff Green anytime we want to. Doesn't make the team better than the Lakers deal.
