Anyone ever play this course near Toledo Bend? I had the pleasure of playing there Easter weekend and I was thoroughly impressed. What a beatiful hidden gem of a course. Great elevation changes on every hole. Near perfect greens. Great use of the Lake itself on several holes. I had a blast playing that place and loved the setting. Would have liked to played it again after having a chance to experience it.

Anyone else have experience there?

It was in terrible shape the last time I played it. Greens were horrible with bare spots all over them and the fairways were in bad shape as well. This was about two summers ago and for what they were asking to play it I didn't feel that it was worth the money. Glad to hear that it is in better shape now.

I've played probably 30 times over the life of the course.

I like it too. Definitely not a drivers course. The par 5's are fun, and neutralize long drivers by requiring irons or fairway woods off the tee.

17 is always fun to play. I played back in September on back to back days and was by myself, and still enjoyed it.

I played Lake Charles Country Club Saturday and was told by one of the players that played Cypress the same time as you that the course was not in its best condition. So, if you liked it then, it does get even better.

The par 5's were definitely some of the most challenging that I have ever played. Mid to long iron off of the tee and then a three wood or five wood into the hole. Very tough. If it is in good shape I would love to go play it again.

Haha. On 17, I shanked a 6 iron off the tee right but it hit a tree and bounced out not quite into the fairway, but it was clear view into the green about 120 yards out. The only problem was it was sitting on rock hard sand. I tried my best to chop down on a wedge and I skulled it over the green. I thought it was in the lake but when I walked over the ball was sitting on the grass about 2 feet in bounds. I had to carry a chip over a bunker into a short side pin. I fluffed it and it landed in the sand bunker. Then I calmly chipped it in the hole from a short side bunker for a routine par.

Actually I can't remember if that was 16 or 17, but it was one of the final holes.

I've only played it once but I really enjoyed it. Like you said the elevation changes were nice. And at the time the greens were in good shape. I'd like to play again. Saw a ton of deer on the course too.

I was referring to the signature par 3. I think it's 17, might be 16, but it usually plays from a sand wedge to a 9 iron.

Pretty course with great views. Seems inconsistent alot with being in good condition. Lay out not very impressive. Stupid par 5's, you lay up on 3 of the 4. Front nine better than the back. You always see deer there too. Not worth the price IMO.

The last time I played cypress, my father in law flipped his cart on the first hole and rolled down the rocky hill. I was already at the tee box getting my driver out and I heard my wife scream. When I looked back and saw him rolling down I thought he would at least have a broken arm, but he got up and looked around and walked to the box ready to go. If you've been there, you know just how steep that slope is.

I played it a few times. It's o.k. but kinda Micky Mouse-ish. I can't hit driver but a couple holes, which I don't find very entertaining.

My only gripes were the par 5's which had you hitting irons off the tee with no choice to bomb it. All in all different layout than I normally played so I enjoyed the round.

I think 17 is the par 3 signature. I lipped out on a birdie putt on that one. I think it played about 115 the day I played from the blue tees.

I have played the course several times, the greens were never in good shape and for price you have to pay they need to be better than what they were. I suppose they want you to pay for the scenery that comes along with the course, very scenic course and somewhat challenging, sounds as if the course is in better shape than what it used to be.

The greens were in good shape but I've never played it before so I can't compare to past condidtions. There may have been a couple of patchy spots here and there, but they rolled smooth and true and the ball was grabbing nicelsy on approach shots.
