his contract will be in the $15m range, so teams would end up having to trade a top-flight player

Bower needs to have his arse run out of town on the basis of that contract alone. Was he drunk when signing that one? Good grief, who did we have working that deal Ricky Williams agent(the one who signed him to that stupid deal with the Saints with all of the incentives)?

forgive me for being so uneducated with basketball...but didnt we come in under the luxury tax thresh-hold and therefore are getting some money back/saving money? if so, we should be able to get a top flight player fairly easily one would think...

Every team under the luxury tax threshold gets an equal share of the luxury tax money collected. So yeah, if they stay under the threshold they could hit a real jackpot, possibly...

...problem: Hornets are $3m over the threshold.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the last deal they pulled brought them under it...

No they aren't.

quote:

The New Orleans Hornets will not have to pay the NBA's luxury tax this year after dealing reserve guard Bobby Brown to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The deal on Tuesday gives the Hornets a conditional 2014 second-round draft pick from the Clippers and brings the Hornets' player payroll below the $69.9 million luxury tax threshold.

bower also drafted darren collison and marcus thornton

bower has actually helped get this team in position to be competitive in 2012. just have to hit the drafts

and no, this is not me condoning what bower did, one bit, but the front office has done what they could to reduce payroll and attemp to maneuver out of this mess

Realistically, how many of these people do you think only follow the Hornets/NBA because of Thornton? We've been seeing a ton of these type threads lately
