I haven't read this whole thread, but I think the Lakers are worse today than they were yesterday. If they don't wind up pulling off the Howard deal, I'm not sure they can win the West, much less the Finals.

This

They just gave up two top 15 PFs for the best PG in the game and have a HUGE whole at PF now.

I don't think Humphries will be coming to LA ANYTIME soon..nor do I think he would want to

Of course they are. Rule #1 is never get "smaller" in a trade...quality size in the NBA is difficult to obtain and you cannot count on Bynum at this point.

I have to think they do not make this trade without having a plan in place to significantly upgrade the frontcourt...I would be shocked if they didn't.

The lakeshow don't make this trade if they know they won't get Howard.

Now Howard can come out and say trade me now because I'm not signing an extension. No one trades for howard if he won't sign a long term.

Howard and cp3 tandem for next 6 to 7 years in la.

We'll see. The Land O'Lakers guy who writes for ESPN thinks this trade actually hurts the Lakers ability to get Howard, and that the plan may be to stick with Bynum and look for replacements at the 4

I don't buy this…they don't have any peices left to trade to get Howard.

No way Orlando does a Bynum-Howard swap

No shite sherlock.

It would have to involve a third team most likely. LA would also have to eat hedo's salary. They would also probably throw in Mecca World Peace, whom the Magic would immediately cut.

Either Laker's front office has more faith in Bynum than most or a plan is already in place for Howard.

Im reading that players can now renegotiate existing contracts downward (defer salary), similar to the NFL.

Before any renegotiating had to be an increase..

This is a new perk of the new CBA.

Could we see Kobe defer part of his contract?

If Okafor isn't part of this trade, the Lakers went from having the best/longest/deepest front court in the league.....to not having anyone the first 5 games of the year.
Maybe Mecca can play center those first 5 games and then PF the rest of the year
