Lets just pretend the numbers are a wash at the end of the year. Felix and Sale have name recognition. Felix is on a contender right now. As much as I like what Kluber brings to the table he's third of the trio right now.

Seattle 57-54 (2 GB)
Cleveland 57-55 (2.5 GB)
Chicago 55-58 (5 GB)

I didnt realize being .5 GB makes you out of contention. Kluber is on a "contender" if Felix is.

This thread has made me mad the tribe didnt resign Kazmir. Would be a legit playoff team with him

We are a legit playoff team right now. Has anybody in this thread been watching baseball recently? Cleveland's schedule is very friendly the rest of the way! Think about this, the only team left on their scedule with a winning record is Detroit (2x) and New York (1x). Making the playoffs is very very doable!

I agree, Kluber has a chance.

If he or Felix can pitch their team into one of the wild card spots, then I think that pitcher will take the AL Cy.

Sale has been awesome, but he missed time and the Sox are probably out of contention.

Now that King Felix has as many starts as Kluber, he also has as many wins, while lowering his ERA below 2.00, increasing his strike out total lead, and innings pitched.....

Corey Kluber goes out and DOMINATES the Yankees by strking out 10 today. Cy Young winner!!

Corey Kluber's last 6 starts:

6-0
0.68 ERA
31 1/3 Scoreless Innings
61 K's

That's just unreal!!!

Price beat Felix tonight so who gets now? Kluber or Price?

Necessary bump!!

I took a lot of heat even mentioning Kluber for AL Cy Young. Good for Corey Kluber for proving all the doubters wrong!!

Considering when he was mentioned his numbers were below King Felix and Sale.... the thing is he continued to dominant and they fell flat in the second half in comparison.

Wait, I just read from the beginning, people agreed he was worth the consideration, just based on numbers people did not think he would win. Am I missing something where it turned into a fight thread?

Chris Sale didn't fall flat; the White Sox fell flat.

Well less innings pitched after the All-Star break than before the All-Star break really hurt him. No way was he going to win with only 170 innings pitched going against guys with 200+

Plus Kluber posted a 1.73 ERA in the second half which blew away Sale with a 2.28 and King Felix with a 2.16. Felix still had the better season imo and could have won.

Sale didn't miss a start after the all star game. The All Star game was well after the 1/2 way mark of the season. Sale missed a month in April/May.
I would have put him 3rd too.

Doubting his stats? At the time they were below Hernandez and Sale so the #3 guy in a few people's opinion. Congrats to Kluber on the amazing second half
