Can you do baseball just so I can see my eagles with some sort of legitimacy?

UTEP doesnt have a program.

North Texas agreed to start a baseball program when they joined Conference USA in 2013 ... Still hasnt happened, but they are super cereal this go round with whatever they promised the AAC.

LaTech gets more bang for the buck than almost any other athletic program in the country.

If Louisiana Tech could ever get in a big conference(they won’t) they would be better program than Ole Miss, State, and Arky IMHO

Reminder, that Marshall fired Doc Holliday a couple years ago in what was one of the most inexplicable and moronic firings that I can remember

They were almost always a top 10-15 ish G5 team and were often ranked.

His firing is up there with Ruffin McNeil as a model for how to make your program less successful and relevant.

Holliday I don't think has even gotten another job, though, so it leads me to belive it was something personal. That's the rumor I always heard, and apparently the AD hated him.

UAB

Had their football program cut, which was probably a godsend since they started winning and are getting a better stadium.

The basketball team murdered over 95% of the 2015 March Madness Brackets.

Probably the program highlights.

The AAC taking the teams the did was a very bad decision, big markets or not. They would have been much better off had they taken actual good sports programs.

So…
After UT and OU go to the SEC, UCF, Houston, Cincinnati, and BYU go to the Big 12.
The American then adds UAB, Army, FAU, and North Texas
Send WKU and MTSU to the MAC.
Funbelt grabs La Tech, Marshall, and Southern Miss.

A lot of people are critical of the AAC’s expansion teams. It’s a Hail Mary to save the conference. The only way it works is if those teams make significant improvements in the next few years.

So LA Tech proved winning games actually doesn’t matter

The AAC improved their academic standings. It is easier to upgrade a football program vs increase your academic ratings. UAB's endowment is equal to LSU. Rice is a juggernaut. The vetting for membership was program investment. FAU and Charlotte are both over 200MM for endowment. Cincinnati is a loss, but this is a good move for the AAC.

UTSA has a lot of money as does UNT and Charlotte I think both will be good with the exposure and more money. UAB improving all their facilities too. Only thing I would have done is WKU or ODU over FAU

True, the quality of the program appears not to matter, it’s the number of people in your immediate market that matters. (Money)
