well first off, qualifying for each region or federation or whatever s different. like concacaf has their own system. it starts with the prelim rounds where the best 12 or 13 teams get a bye. the next 12 or so play a home and away series of aggregrate goals. winners advance to play the teams that got byes in another home and away series. the winners of this series (we played the bahamas) get placed into three groups. here they play everyone twice, once at home and once away (this is the stage they are at now). the top two teams from each group go to the final stage, a group of six. you play everyone in this group twice, once at home and once away. concacaf gets 3.5 bids to the world cup. so the top three teams from this final group automatically get to the world cup. the 4th place team plays a home and away with some team that placed like 4th or 5th in CONMEBOL (south america essentially) and the winner there gets to the world cup as well.

Well, Mexico's now up 2 - 1 and Honduras is down to 10 after a red card...so much for that.

I thought it was my TV at first.

Absolutely terrible lighting.

Thanks for the help. So, this is a pretty important game we are playing right now. Not all of our best players are playing because all of the European leagues and the MLS started right?

0-0 at the half. I thought we were a lot better than them. But it's soccer.

Does anybody else get absolutely sick of seeing the same shite? I know I'm gonna get two things when I watch USA vs a 3rd world country:
1) Our best players or our most creative and potentially dangerous players won't play
2) Other teams take so many damn falls we get bullshite cards. It's fricking ridiculous

Can I please see Adu and Altidore out there. And NOT see Pearce or Cherundolo? For that matter get Eddie Lewis's old arse out of there too...damn this stuff pisses me off

If Pearce, Lewis, and Dolo are the best we can produce then I'm just gonna stop watching soccer until 2014

Home field advantage is HUGE, too, in games like this. Look at those conditions. You can tell they're terrible even on TV.

Well the fact they're playing in the middle of a swamp helps and we haven't won there since 1988...it's an extremely tough place to play (i mean you can't even see the field)

You'll have some countries too that will play home games in qualifying in like 10,000 ft altitude, because they practice all the time at that level, and they're terrible at soccer, so that's the only way they can win.

lets save the shite talking until we win regardless of who plays better. ive played on teams where we know the other team is better and we know what we gotta do to get a favorable result. if the guatemalans (spelling?) can do that, then we cant say shite
