This will be my first Fall with my newborn son. Will mean a bit more I think, even though he'll be an infant and not remember anything
That was me last year. It was the greatest
This year he actually knows what a football is, so it's going to be fun all over again.
God I love fatherhood.

I will probably tune in excitedly for “the return of cfb” and two or three series later flip over to Netflix/hbo because of how garbage the matchups are

The great thing about this is that you can use him to get out of other weekend obligations that might pop up.
Unfortunately, in every subsequent year, the opposite happens. It’s easy to just post up on the couch all day with a newborn, but once they’re 1, 2 etc. it’s either a much bigger task to watch them (eg. you can’t just leave them in a crib all day while you watch football) or you’ll be out and about doing family stuff.
My daughter was a year and a half when football season kicked off last August, and it was the first time in 20 years I didn’t follow college football religiously. Just too much other stuff going on.

Yeh it will mean your days of couch surfing and enjoying all the games like football porn are over
Thats what it will mean
Nah, we've got it all set up to consolidate the baby care and football watching. The rock n play, bassinet, and portable changing table will be next to the couch
And there's a 32" TV mounted on the wall in the nursery I can put on mute
Wife is a big football fan too, we've discussed this at length. We will not be leaving the house on Saturdays.

What happens when you remember how garbage most the stuff on Netflix/HBO is?

They are a lot less garbage than what's on this upcoming Saturday

Actually starts earlier than that. Duquesne @ UMass at 5:30 PM EST. I only know this because that's when the Fulmer Cup season ends.

I am telling you, once he is 1+, you arent sitting on a couch all day on a saturday watching football
But honestly you shouldnt really want to either

Its a good trade off for sure
But the days of vegging it out watching football all saturday are done

Yep. My son is turning 3 in October. Luckily he still naps for 3 hours or so on the weekends which gives me the noon-3 or 1-4 tv slots free of any distraction. Since Georgia Tech is mediocre at best, that means tons of noon and 12:30 kicks which is convenient for that schedule (same with the Falcons and the 1 pm kicks). It does affect my watching time of other games though.

I LOVE that we have this week 0 type thing in cfb now where a few games are played the Saturday before week 1
I hope it becomes more expansive with more relevant teams
If it expands too much then it is no longer a week 0 and becomes the new week 1.
I like having the entire season kick off for everybody at once. A few week 0 garbage games is fine though.
