College football playoffs - let’s play the first and second round on weeknights….

Brace yourselves for something. There will be weeknight playoff games. Commissioners have discussed holding first- and second-round games on weeknights as to disperse the inventory and avoid the NFL, which begins playing on Saturdays during the third week of December (CFP's new second round).
This is probably the most asinine part of the entire deal. A lot of colleges aren’t located in “major” metropolitan areas and would lead to high leverage games being played in front of crowds fitting a Toledo/central Michigan game. May as well play the games in Timbuktu if that’s the case.

Yeah, the timing of this with holiday break is not ideal.

I dont think that has stopped the home games from filling up so far in these previous two years

1. There’s been 1 game on a Friday night under the current format.
2. This sounds like they want to play games on Tuesday-Wed-Thurs night too. What do you think they’ll play 6 games on Friday?

I just dont think they will have a problem filling up on campus playoff games no matter when they are

Then you have zero clue….
1. Most of these schools are already out of session…so fewer students.
2. You really think 100k is coming to Baton Rouge on Wednesday evening? Think 90,000 to Auburn on a Thursday night? Do you have any idea how many people travel to games on a weekly basis?
For LSU people come from all over…..most being over a 2hr drive….you really think they’ll come on a Wednesday night in the middle of December?

Now, think about that in the north. They might still fill up at OSU or Mich, but playing in 10 degrees at night midweek during holiday break is pushing it.

They will bow to ESPN and play whenever they are told. There is no concern for the fans or the players, only the money.

This is your weekly reminder that football at all levels is no longer a sport that happens to be televised
It’s a television product that happens to be a competition

Almost like 24 teams is a bad idea or something.

They are going to hose the smaller schools with the weeknight games which is shitty
Never mind, didn’t realize it would be all the games, even more shitty

Apparently you missed the LSU/TN game in 2005. People filled Tiger Stadium on a Mon night when it was a 1000 F with 1000% humidity.
They will fill Tiger Stadium for a playoff game any day of the week.
