I know that Eifert won the Mackey award over Ertz and Seferian-Jenkins.

Such bullshite, clearly the worst of the three.

I hate the bias towards certain schools.

Clearly.
and team.

He was Bama's worst lineman on multiple occasions when I watched them..

Worst stats or worst player? He's the best TE of the 3 (though not necessarily in stats, which in part is a product of QB) and projected to be a late first rounder.

It could be a make-up award since he should have won last year over Dwayne Allen.

How someone projects as a pro player, or his personal abilities should have no bearing on whether or not he is deserving of an award. It's about what you achieved on the field.

While i certainly agree, it is much more complex than that. Because of Eifert's success last year he was doubled nearly every possession which is why his numbers are down.

He is projected to be the Top TE taken in the draft despite this, so that obviously means *something*

I'm not denying that he's a great player, and that he requires defenses to strategize around him; but if awards are given based of the "potential" to make big plays, then more deserving players would be shorted each year.

Is Barner or Thomas going pro?

Barner is as he is a senior, DAT is is a true sophomore, so barring a cliff harris meltdown, will be back next year...

Maxwell to Klein (Heisman to Manziel)

Biletnikoff to Lee (not close)

Bednarik to Te'o (not fair, but this is what will happen)

O'Brien to Klein (again, Heisman to Manziel)

Outland to Jones (although Joeckel should win)

Thorpe to Banks

Walker to Ball

Mackey to the Stanford guy

Nobody cares about kickers and punters

Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame
103 Total Tackles (52 solo), 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 7 INTs

Mother of God. I knew Jarvis had better stats but I had no clue the gap was this big.

In the categories you chose to highlight. Look at INTs, tackles, and solo tackles.

Jarvis Jones is a great player but he is most certainly at his best in blitzing situations. That is just the kind of player he is. No knock on him at all but you would expect him to be better in the categories you selected.

Mother of God. Let me explain to you the difference in roles and responsibilities between a pass rushing OLB, and an ILB who plays in a 3-4 scheme that hardly ever blitzes. On second thought, nevermind.

Eifert was already announced as the Mackey winner, I think.

Jones is quite a pass rusher, but man does he need to work on defending the run. He was manhandled in the run game against Bama once Bama started running at him. Pretty eye-opening actually.

No doubt. Had some rough games vs Stanford and Cal but he should win the Doak Walker Award.

KB is my cousin's roommate and is an awesome kid so I am pulling for him more than just because he is a Duck.

The last time the best linebacker in college football didn't win the Butkus (prior to this season) was 1998, when Chris Claiborne won over Dat Nguyen and Jevon Kearse.

True. The fact that they play different positions does have a lot to do with the disparity in numbers.

Wasn't trying to knock Te'o either. They're both great players and valuable to their respective teams. I just get the sense that Te'o has gotten a bit more recognition this year because his team is undefeated.

If he wins the Heisman, Te'O would be the only player to win the trophy having scored no career touchdowns.
