His car was disabled. And seriously, how do you prevent this at small-time tracks? Fine the small racing team that probably doesn't break even money-wise?

And? His safety wasn't in jeopardy by him staying in the car.

Suspend anyone that does it for X number of races.

quote:Agreed, you cannot have a zero tolerance policy about getting out of a wrecked car because it may be on fire or likely to catch fire. NASCAR can penalize drivers for not leaving the track as soon as possible once they have exited the car and suspend them for confronting another driver post wreck.
Drivers need to stay in their cars, unless absolutely necessary to get out. There's really no logical way to debate that.

He was going to get out at some point.

Been awhile since Cowherd said some dumb shite.

Then make it a get out of car and IMMEDIATELY get off the track policy.
Any other brilliant criticism from you?

No, since you obviously have all of the answers

But was it necessary to charge at the cars still cruising the track?

That's what Cowherd is getting at because that's what the casual non-NASCAR listener sees from the video.
Most people who don't even follow NASCAR have seen plenty of drivers get out of their cars on the track and point or throw their helmet at the offending car/driver (for the earlier wreck) speeding past them.
It's like this kid grew up watching that - and figured that was part of the playbook - you are a chump if you don't show the other guy up to the crowd.
I think this kid just followed what he learned and saw on TV growing up on ESPN.

This jackleg should have to provide proof of this IMO

I'm open to listening to any logical reason driver's shouldn't stay out of harm's way if at all possible. But you're going to have to bring some actual logic to it.

No. Like I said in the original thread, he shouldn't have been bouncing around like a maniac near sprint cars on a dirt track. 99% of incidents like that end up with with a middle finger, an arm raising, or a finger pointing from a safe distance.

I listened to Cowherd for 3 years in Portland before he went national to ESPN...and even his first 2 years at ESPN were great...as he was the first "National ESPN radio guy" to talk college football a lot and gambling and not just the damn Yankees and all the Northeast sports.
But after awhile he just became another shill for the brand - and really - the worst one - he pimps the company line and talks up what they want him to say.
He used to talk about whatever came to his mind...dating, strippers, relationships, having kids, etc...it was free flow and interesting.
But he lost that a long time ago.

I generally like him but anytime he starts talking about the South he sounds like an idiot. I'm sure his coast audiences lap that shite up though.
Kige on this. His medium level of trolling is entertaining at times.

He does exactly what they want him to do, which is stir the pot and get people listening and talking about his show. Mission accomplished.

I don't disagree that NASCAR is a predominately southern sport. I disagree strongly with the notion that it's "southern culture of NASCAR" that led to his death, like cowherd was saying.
I do. I know more die hard fans in California than Louisiana. Look where tracks are located. Probably half are not in the Southern States. It used to be predominately a Southern thing but no more

Well to be fair...
It doesn't matter where they are racing...or where a driver was born or grew up.
NASCAR is distinctly a Southern sport.
People like racing all over...and the midwest of course with the Indy...and motorbike racing in California...
But NASCAR...the movers - the shakers - the majority of fans - the culture...that's always been a Southern thing. It's never really gone national despite ESPN lying to everyone and pushing crap like Danica Patrick.
