No lineman was ever going to live up to the hype ESPN created over one hit

Forget ESPN hype he's simply not close to the players I named in the OP

Please show me a breakdown of Clowney's best passrush moves and his flawless technique. Please show me clips of him not standing borderline straight-up on every play.

I'll wait, but you'll probably just disappear and regurjitate what ESPN tells you.

Clowney is great, but insanely overhyped.

The media (ESPN) tries to make it seem like he'd be an all pro DE in the NFL right now.

After his sack today he made it 2nd & 20. He sits out the rest of the drive and UGA promptly goes 60+ yds for a TD before he ever came back in. I'm not expecting him to get a sack every play but at least get on the fricking field.

when has clowney ever really been a game changer? he's a monster no doubt but he can be contained.

He is good, just overhyped. It happens anytime ESPN gets on a player. He has a ton of talent and will still be first pick because a game changing DE is to valuable to pass up. (see Mario Williams). He has been fairly disappointing in the 2 games I have seen him play. (LSU 2012, UG 2013)

This basically sums it up, he's no different than any other top line SEC player. He got overhyped because he made an unblocked play against Michigan in a bowl game. He's been hit or miss in the rest of his games, and been shut down by many SEC teams.

yeah that play was awesome but it was the only big play he had all game. UM really did a great job of containing him but all everyone remembers is that big hit.

He was projected top pick throughout most of last season. That was well before the hit. The espn hype ils matches by the I hate espn but watch it enough to hate who they hype.

You're the one who claimed these therefore the burden of proof is on you, not me. You can't prove your claims because you know they aren't true.

I've been waiting to see the hype ever since our game against them last year. Outside "the hit" against michigan, he hasn't done much and rarely shows up in big games.

Well as no one makes highlight tapes of bad plays it's hard to find what I'm talking about, but did you watch the UNC and UGA games? Hands on hips might as well be Clowney's new name.

Did you listen to Pollack blast his lack of leverage and pad level? Brian Griese said the same thing before the UNC game when he was smothered. I'm not the only one saying this shite.

Again, he's a freak of nature. When he comes out of his skin he's close to unstoppable even as raw as he is. However, at the moment, with the NFL draft looming, he doesn't have the motor or drive to be dominant every down player.

How anyone can deny that is beyond me. He was borderline invisible against UNC and UGA. That tackle from UGA who stonewalled him was pulled against Clemson after getting torched repeatedly by a first year starter.

Please bring more to the discussion than the hyperboles you've heard from the media.

I maintain that Tyrann M. had a helluva lot more impactful plays than Clowney and he came nowhere near winning the Heisman. As it stands now, Glenn Dorsey had a helluva lot more plays than Clowney without an offseason of hype and finished like 5th in voting, hell he might not have even made the finalists.

Clowney will get killed in the NFL unless he improves a ton. Can you imagina a Jake Long or Joe Thomas blocking this one-move DE that plays high? He will be on his back more than a Tri Delt.
