After their win @ 17th ranked Boston College on 11/10, Clemson didn’t have another game against a ranked opponent on their schedule. After Notre Dame’s win @ USC on 11/24, Clemson was near certain that ND was going to be its first round opponent. So Clemson could have, and may have, started preparing for Bama as early as 11/10 and for ND as early as 11/24.

Bama couldn’t have afforded playoff prep until their win over UGA on 12/01, and didn’t know who their first round opponent would be until 12/02.

Clemson essentially got a week head start on Bama for preparing for the first round of the playoff, and about a 20 day head start preparing for each other. In addition, preparing for OU almost certainly took more time than preparing for ND, so while Clemson spent just a week on ND and focused the rest of their time on Bama, Bama like spent the vast majority of its time on OU.

When you consider this advantage Clemson had, in addition to their much softer schedule, they really had the deck stacked in their favor. No question they were a championship worthy team, but I wonder how they would have fared in the SEC East.

Probably undefeated. One loss at most.

Bama is the last team to say the system has penalized them or that their schedule is too tough.

Bama’s schedule was hot trash as well.

This year the only teams worth a damn were Clemson and Bama.

They beat A&M by 2 and Syracuse by 4. How would they have done playing UGA, UF, LSU/AU, and Bama in the SEC Championship? They could have gone undefeated, but chances are they slip up at least once and get bruised up a lot more along they way.

Are we still pretending the SEC is the same as 10 years ago?

In 2011 Alabama finished 2nd in the SEC W so while LSU was playing a top 15 Georgia team Alabama was able to sit home and start prep for LSU, so forgive me if i don’t shed an tears for Alabama maybe not having as easy as road as Clemson

Meh.

They'd still be in the playoffs and beat the same teams

Clemson started prepping for Bama the second that Dabo made the switch to Lawrence. That's why he made the move, and it was brilliant.

Still much more difficult than ACC.

Yea those powerhouses like Tenn, Vandy, South Carolina, and Mizzou are really gonna bruise up Clemson.

Not really.

It could be argued it's more difficult, but it would be slightly if anything.

And Syracuse by 4

Is this where we act like beating the #15 team in the nation using the 3rd string QB for 3 quarters isn’t a good win?

Bama had a bye last year before the playoffs. They didn’t even have to play in the damn championship. This thread is a joke and so are you.

Looking at early preseason and recruiting rankings I would say that the SEC is as strong as it ever was, so yes.

The insane overreaction to this one game is starting to take a life form all of its own.

You know in your heart that Alabama wins that game 8 out of 10 times
