I am sure Notre Dame would be just happy to have their starting QB this season.

And starting and back up RB (though Prosise was expected to get a lot of carries even before those two went down/were suspended), starting DT (the real kick in the nuts), starting TE, starting (at times) SS, starting nickel, etc., etc. Our rash of injuries/suspensions/attrition over the last year and a half has sucked; we're still nowhere close to how bad it got at the end of the year for our defense last year, though. We were burning redshirts left and right and tossing out converted tight ends and walk-ons in the 2 deep by the time we got to USC. We're down about eight major contributors (about five starters) from the start of fall camp. Maybe the injury luck will start turning our way the rest of the year, and we'll stay clean.

I will say that I don't believe there's a huge drop off between Zaire and Kizer. As long as Kizer stays healthy, I am not all that worried about the QB spot. Even then, I think the freshman behind him (Wimbush) could come in, and we could still win a lot of games. As good of a year as Prosise is having, a Folston/Prosise combination in the backfield would have been lethal with this line. We are really going to miss him and his skill set at some point in the season (could be Saturday for all I know). Same with Jarron Jones at DT. A Rochell/Jones/Day/Okwara line with Cage, Tillery (the Evangel Christian product for you LSU fans), and Trumbetti in reserve would have been a formidable and deep front 4. As it is now, we're one more injury away from getting really thin there (for the second year in a row) quickly. Jones was/is an almost surefire NFL guy if he can stay healthy.

Now before we make this a total pitty party for Notre Dame, Clemson lost an All-American WR, our starting SAM LB, our preseason All-ACC DT, and our starting LT.

Both teams have caught some bad luck for sure!

Hurricane Joaquin is going to make this game unpredictable. I just hope there are no weather delays. Weather delays and 8:00 kickoffs can make for some strange football games.

This low pressure system is really gonna fvck us. This won't be the picturesque Gameday setting Clemson usually presents. They're calling for 4-6 inches and local flooding.

It's gonna be a nightmare. Almost all of Clemson's tailgating is on grass around the stadium (which is what makes it so nice), but it's gonna be a damn mud pit.

This really sucks for everyone involved.

Local meteorologist calling for possibly 13+ inches of rain in a 24 hr period on Saturday with winds at 20-35mph. This is not going to be your typical football game.

This is the perfect "Clemsoning" scenario.

Nah, they aren't playing an inferior ACC school.

"Clemsoning" has evolved from originally being "An over ranked Top 25 Tommy Bowden team losing to Wake Forest, Duke, NC State, Boston College" to pretty much losing any game. I don't think we've lost to an unranked team in 4 years.

A girl on my FB feed, who live in SC and is a bit of a drama queen, is calling for the game to be cancelled. Is the weather really that bad?

The governor issued a state of emergency. They talked about canceling the game, but they decided not to cancel it (or move it up which I think was the main thing they thought of) and will play it at 8 tomorrow!!!

Yes, it's predicted to be epic amounts of rain for the whole state. 100 year storm amounts. Clemson is in a rural area and the campus is lush with old trees. Most football parking is on grass on campus. There's a really good chance of trees falling and 85,000 folks getting stuck in mud leaving at midnight. We love our football so the game must go on!

I like football in the rain... Is the field grass or artificial turf?
(As proof that my FB friend is a bit of a drama queen, she was posting that it was expected to be a 1,000 year storm and 18"-24" of rain was expected.)

It's grass. It's as good as it gets when it comes to grass athletic fields. Drains really well.
