This will basically confirm the MNF Dec 24th game vs Denver will be the last game in Oakland.

Raiders have been in talks with San Diego to play at Qualcomm in 2019 (unlikely) and the 49ers at Levi (very likely).

Nothing but a late cash grab attempt by that pathetic city with zero chance of amounting to anything.

#Breaking: The City of Oakland has filed a federal antitrust and breach of contract lawsuit against the NFL, the Raiders, and the 31 other NFL teams.

@JasonCole62: High ranking Raiders official said today there is “no way” the team plays in Oakland in the 2019 season after the city filed suit today. Source said there are 5 or 6 cities the team will consider, including some that already have NFL teams.

Result of Al Davis burning a lot of bridges when he was the owner.

Maybe this will teach cities/states to stop spending tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money to subsidize stadiums for billion dollar NFL teams

Sounds like we'll play 2019 at Levi's. 49ers owner said a few weeks back he'd be happy to accommodate the Raiders aka get paid a large amount for 1 year deal.

breach of contract
Is it a breach of contract?

If there is a contract stating that the raiders and NFL were not supposed to do what they did, why shouldn’t they sue?

And I agree with another poster.

Cities should stop using tax funds to pay for these teams.

frick everyone involved.

frick Mark Davis for not negotiating in good faith.

frick Oakland and Alameda County for not coming up with a stadium solution since this has been a problem since the team returned from LA.

frick Gruden just because.

I’m laughing about the NFL getting sued just considering the history involved with Al having to sue the league to move from Oakland originally.

Where do you live? Northern California is beautiful. Sacramento is too hot in the summer and San Francisco is too cold in the summer but other than that it is great. There are many Oaklands. There is certainly bad but it is a beautiful city overall. It even has a forest but I’m sure you know all of that.

Oakland has every right to be annoyed with the NFL. The Raiders wanted too much in public funding but the NFL has every right to move teams. We don’t need two here anyway as we don’t need the Kings and A’s.

We all know it wasn’t your tax money they used. I mean if the Raiders and the NFL did breach the contract, why shouldn’t they sue?

Would have already lost the A's too if they didn't get blocked on San Jose.

Absolutely not. The city of Oakland renovated the Coliseum and the Raiders rented the it. There were no strings attached to the Raiders returning to Oakland, other than a long-term lease that has long since expired.

I agree, but the Raiders made a deal with the city of Oakland in 1995. That deal has now expired. The Raiders have no lingering obligations to the city.

This lawsuit is specious and will probably end up dismissed with prejudice.

Mark Davis and Amy Trask negotiated with the city of Oakland for years and got nowhere.

Mark Davis had three choices. First, he tried to move to Los Angeles, which was blocked -- a huge mistake, since the Raiders would be selling out stadiums down there. Second, he could leave for Las Vegas, including a sweet-heart deal of free money and cheap financing.

Or, third, he could stay in Oakland, pay for the stadium by himself, get literally zero tax benefits, face the highest income tax in the country, face the most oppressive EPA fines / fees / regulations in the country, face the most expensive construction costs in the country, face the highest labor costs in the country, contend with any number of hope and prayer lawsuits which would originate from the Bay Area writ large, and, by the way, do that while still playing in a stadium so broken it literally had sewage openly leaking in three or four different places.

Nah. frick Oakland, in this case.

Oakland and the Central Valley are shitholes.

There are some great places in NorCal along the Coasts.

Monterey for example which has Pebble Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea; Sonoma, Half Moon Bay, Napa Valley, etc.
