I hate the braves and I've heard that a million times. Basically every baseball announcer says it anytime braves were in town
Both 1st round picks who stayed with their teams for their whole career. Both enjoyed success. Chipper is adored by rednecks in the south, Jeter is adored by the northeast.

This thread is another reason I hate the Stros going to the al

I was going to do an elaborate comparison of their best seasons but my computer froze and all the stats that a wrote are gone oh well.

Major league teams don't get 3rd basemen for their fielding, and when it comes to 2nd basemen, fielding is important.
Just like major league teams don't care much about the fielding of their left fielder.

Well, 3rd base is harder to play than 2nd.

Yeah I really don't think there's much of an argument statistically or otherwise.
That doesn't mean Biggio wasn't amazing though. He definitely was.

Chipper was one of the best players of the mid to late 90's and through the 2000's. Biggio was a stat compiler. He played 21 seasons and simply padded his stats. Never did anything great while Chipper was the most feared hitter in that Braves line-up.

Wut?
They are very different types of players I'm talking about legend wise. Folks down here LOVE Chipper.

Name me 6 better players from 94-98 than Craig Biggio.

You're right, Dan. One of my co-workers is a HUGE Chipper fan, but Larry Wayne spent a hell of a lot of time on the DL. And He shuts up whenever I point that out.

Are you saying fielding at 3rd base isn't important?
Have you ever tried it? I can only imagine how quick those balls in the majors get on those guys

frick u 'compiler' assholes. You're the same frickers who turn around and say Terrell Davis isn't HOF-worthy because he didn't play long enough. Biggio WAS good enough to play for 21 yrs.....and apparently no one came along who could beat him out of a job.
Posted on 1/10/13 at 2:12 pm to FightinTigersDammit
he is to be complimented for playing so long, but when you start comparing him to other HOF'ers it becomes more of a focal point.

Belle finished top 3 in MVP 3xs during that 5 year period. Lead AL in total bases 3 times. Slugging twice. HRs once. RBI twice.
Has Biggio lead the league in any relevant stat, ever?
Bagwell won an MVP during that 5 year period and finished 3rd another season. He was the best player on the team biggio played for.
