That's wild, just a guess from me that was where he was going because BOB officially left today. Weird that a P5 head coach would leave his job for an OC position at another P5 school in the same conference.

Maybe he's just tired of being a HC and all the extra that goes with it and just wants to coach his side of the ball. Though he would still have to recruit

I think OC is where he belongs. He seems to be an introverted person. This could work out well for OSU.

I think he and Day already speak the same language as Day worked under Kelly in the past. The OL coach was working for Kelly at UCLA as well recently.
So in some ways that helps continuity. Kelly was thought to be one of the best offensive minds a decade ago and he seemed to be "fine" at UCLA.
So it's not a bad move for OSU but I don't know who you could hire tomorrow aside from Andy Reid that would be a "wow" OC hire

Fans and UCLA media have been calling for his firing since last year, just lost his starting 5 star QB to be a backup at Oregon, and just signed the worst recruiting class in school history. He saw the writing on the wall and jumped.
