They had scouts at the game last night to watch him.

No word on if breaking the bat over his knee made them swoon or not.

Jake Arrieta sploosh. He took a perfect game into the 7th inning last night but it was broken up by a Billy Hamilton single.

This year: 2.05 ERA (2nd in baseball), 2.09 FIP (3rd), 2.57 FIP (6th), 21.3 K% – BB% (8th)

And he's a bro:

Fyoocha's so bright I gotta wear shades. Theo, Jed and McLeod doing work.

Speaking of McLeod (head guy of player development), he's on the Padres' list for their GM. Sad face.

Fortunately they're looking in house first. They'll talk with him, and him going back there wouldn't surprise me, but i still think it's less than 50%

I really hope you're right.

One more thing on Arrieta: 36 K/2 BB (!!!) in his last four starts.

I'm excited about it. It's not like he's going to play with any regularity. Dude could hit. If he can impart an ounce of wisdom on our right handed sluggers then I'm all for it.

I really, really, really hope he is interested in spreading the Gospel according to Manny. ESPECIALLY in the ear of Javy Baez and if he's willing to listen, Josh Vitters. I'm not even worried about Bryant.

Agreed, his greatest value will be in mentoring the pups.

So far today, Kyle Schwarber has a HR, infield single and a stolen base. NBD.

I didn't really think it was likely for anyone to be on the bryant track (and there's still a lot of time) for the first year in the cubs organization again, but it's entirely possible he starts next year at AA.

If we can get a near ready high ranking pitching prospect along with some outfield talent for shark and a decent haul for hammel, then actually sign a a pitcher or two in the off season 2016 could be interesting.

Not to say 2015 is a wash, but i think a 2nd wc spot is the ceiling

All Kyle Schwarber did yesterday was go 2 for 4 with a HR, a SB (A STOLEN BASE!), and threw out two base stealers.

Jacob Hannemann walked, stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and then STOLE HOME. Because Jacob Hannemann, that's why. He's a guy that I feel like I hear about in every minor league rundown on BN.

Dan Vogelbach continues to be hot. He hit is 7th HR and finished his day 3 for 4, adding a 2B.

Tyler Skulina (2013 4th Round) went 5 IP and gave up a run while striking out 5 and walking one.

Christian Villanueva is getting his shite together at AA. He went 2 for 4 yesterday.

And, the best name in all of baseball--Rock Shoulders--hit his 5th. I don't know how prospecty Rock really is, but he HAS to get to Chicago.

Albert Almora extended his hitting streak to 7 games.
