They finished one whole point above them. These teams are about as even as you can get, but I'll take the more experienced team and better goaltender every time.

Elliott had a better season than Quick, come on man.

Barely. 907 to 902, and Quick's career is better. I'll take Quick every time. I mean, I know Elliott made a save on a whopping 0.5% more shots this year, but I'll take the whole body of work. Quick is better.

2.28 GAA to a 2.45 as well, Quick is vastly overrated.

Blues in 6, deal with it.

Quick also played 13 more games this season and has a Conn Smythe sitting on his mantle.

You deal with it.

So... Quick faced a bunch more shots, is what you're saying. GAA is just Sv% x SHOTS. That tells me the Blues defense has done a better job than the Kings D, assuming similar minutes.

I actually think the Blues win as well, but it's not because Elliott is better than Quick. He's not.

Hey, I'd bring up the irrelevant past if the guy I was talking about had the worse season this year too.

Boom! Because they're the better team with the better goalie this season, playing better hockey.

Well all be damned. Now I should I pull for the Kings.

News Flash Ultimate, the Blues probably had the best defense aside from Nashville last season and we saw how far that got them.

I love the Blues. They are the Caps of the West: always good, no Cups, perennially tortured fanbase. This team plays great two way hockey and has one of the best personalities in the league in Shattenkirk. When people were looking for a team to root for, I pointed them towards the Blues as a good choice for a Southerner. They aren't my team, but I hope good things happen for them. They deserve it, and they play great hockey.

I love how last year is "irrelevant past" as well is looking at a whole career. I would do that too if I was hitching my wagon to 0.5% myself. That's the difference of one coin flip out of 200.

Well because it is, what Quick did last year or 3 years ago means nothing when the puck drops.

Elliott has been better this year, just like the Blues have, that is all that matters, period.

Sidney Crosby will not play tonight.

Not official word, but he's skating with the conditioning coach an hour before the gameday skate which = not playing.

Technically, what happened yesterday doesn't matter either. But when looking at the quality of a player, I like to look at career numbers, particularly when their current numbers are so close.

But I can see why a Pens fan wouldn't want to consider last year's goalie stats.

And that is why this Pens series is going 7. Isles will take one of the first two games.

You kind of help my point here, Fleury won a Cup on his back in 2009, like that meant shite last year or this year.

But then again you love stats, so wouldn't Fleury be your man this year with his .916 save % considerably higher than both Elliott and Quick? And his experience and having won a Cup?

Double standard there eh Baloo?

Highly doubt that, Pens will take it in 5 with or without Crosby.

Likely plan on resting him until the 2nd round as we won't need him to take this series.

Every GM in the league would take Quick over Elliott.

Well duh so would I.

Doesn't mean Elliott isn't the hotter goalie this season and will help win the series for the Blues over Quick.
