Arrieta 22-1 with a 0.85 ERA in his last 26 reg season starts.

I can't even process how dominant those numbers are
Posted on 5/3/16 at 8:41 pm to Maximus
And that loss was a no hitter. This is unreal.

How about 3 of the 5 starters with a sub-2.00 ERA
Posted on 5/3/16 at 8:48 pm to BCMCubs
Baez could win a gold glove playing 3rd full-time. Tonight was a clinic.

Last night Tim Kirkjian was saying how crazy the run difference was, but that no one will ever touch the 39 Yankees +411. Based on 25 games, they are on pace for a +577. Based on 19 wins, if they win 100, they are on pace for +468. Assuming a 100-62 record, and the losses are by an average of 2 runs per game, then the wins need to average 5.4 run margin.

That seems completely unsustainable over an entire season...right?

What's even crazier is that we have this run differential with a 13-5 loss to the Reds and a 6-1 loss to the Rockies.

I would think so. The big question is how far over the 100 win mark will they get?

I was awed 3 times by him tonight in the field. Spectacular. Russell keeps messing up at short (their only run tonight was on him) and he's gonna lose that job because he surely ain't hitting consistently enough.

I mean sure i suppose that is possible, but Russel is one of the best short stops in the game.
You also are suggesting he's going to lose his job for hitting to a guy that can't find a home in the lineup becuase of contact issues. But i like this a whole lot better than the hand wringing some cubs fans did after baez made an error in the NLDS last year.
I could see him playing his way into the lineup and joe putting bryant in LF much more and soler goes to the bench.

Russell is not losing anything. Baez is also a very special athlete and I really hope he starts making Joe put him in the lineup more often.
Also, the Cubs lead the NL Central by 5 games.

Arrieta is unbelievable right now. Don't ever remember seeing this level of domination over an extended period
Posted on 5/4/16 at 8:17 am to Maximus
Looks like this Jay Carreita guy is pretty good. Is he foreign born or something?
Posted on 5/4/16 at 8:18 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
Arrieta is indeed unbelievable. About the closest thing there is to a guaranteed W. Cubs get 1 run and you feel like its game over.

talk about owning a team.
also this needs to be un-achored with an 1135 game today.

I don't think he's shown that by any means to this point, fielding or hitting.

His swing scares me....too long. But he's a better fielder and baserunner than Russell from what I've seen and Russell hit .246 last year and is hitting .210 to this point this year and doesn't have the power Baez has.
Just saying.
