No kidding

I'm honestly not sure where this CB-LbJ connection originated

I've never heard of anyone defending Gilbert but I don't live in Ohio

When LeBron leaves, they'll never get another free agent - ever. Nobody wants to work for that douche.

He's a horrible, horrible owner. That much is clear at this point.

LeBron had stated--repeatedly--he wanted Griffin to get an extension. So why would Billups be the guy LeBron wanted, unless you mean "besides Griffin."

well when Gilbert fired Griffin three weeks ago the discussion automatically becomes a "besides Griffin" scenario right? So my assumption is CB is LBJ's guy and Gilbert squashed the LBJ power move with a shitty offer. Why would Gilbert make a shitty offer to his own GM choice?

Yes, you can only be someone who changes their hate for whatever team he is playing for

Why do you assume it was a bad offer? It was reported to be worth like 5 years, and given Gilbert's propensity to fire people, he would probably end up getting paid not to work during the last few years of that deal.

Wait, if LeBron didn't get his guy in Griffin, why in the world would we assume that CB is his guy?

Wouldn't the 1st part show that Gilbert is doing his own thing entirely with no input from LeBron? I don't think the lowball discredits this because this is just what Gilbert does with GMs, every single time.

It was reported to be half of what 1st time GMs have been getting recently, no?

Well I don't remember, but if that's true, it sounds like a bad offer. I don't know what Gilbert is doing.

He hasn't paid any GM since he's been the owner. He also hasn't extended any of them past their original contract. He obviously doesn't have respect for the position.

someone is leaking all of this to the media.

who else has power in cleveland besides Gilbert and Lebron? Do you think Gilbert is leaking this himself? LBJ's camp? or Do you think CB is leaking this?

In fairness, this type of stuff is always leaked to the media for virtually every team, we just care about it more now. But I don't see how it's any different.

well yeah but it seems there is some sort of purpose to these leaks. the instant CB was a candidate it leaked out, then he turns it down and the leaks come flooding out.

Original offer terms, initial rejection, counter-offer terms, final rejection

Easier to judge other fans when your team has won 5 championships in the past 20 years.

It's a lot harder to stay committed to a team when all they give you is futility and incompetence.
