Seems like the past 10 years or so there have been less and less games today and Monday. This is the last weekend (and holiday) that they get to themselves, and we only get 3 games today which 2 of them are at the same time.

And unbelievably still only 1 game on Labor Day.

Week 1 used to have some huge matchups every year. In the current state of college football week 1 has devolved into a rent a win garbage slate. So it doesn't really matter.

And how the hell does FSU keep getting the Monday game?

Absolutely agree the networks are missing out on 3 great days of football. And the week 1 games are shite. While you can't predict the future, a lot of these matchups were shite to begin with.

I’m surprised the NFL hasn’t moved their schedule up a week to take over Labor Day weekend as their opening week. Guess they want to keep the middle of the week season opener

I think college will eventually have conference games to open the season as teams continue to forgo big OOC games because of the playoff structure

Next season Labor Day weekend will be week 2. Schedule is moving up a week, no more week 0

Because neither NBC nor ABC wants to cede primetime viewership on a holiday weekend to the other.

That will hopefully mean better matchups (too lazy to look at what's already scheduled next season) but either way they need to put more games on Sun-Mon

All I have to say is, thankfully, the quality of matchups will greatly improve in the coming weeks. Week One? Not so much.

No it wouldn't have. That game was over at half. Ole miss Louisville are both ranked. Wayyyyy better game. Clemson is terrible.
