It’s actually Clemson -1 from my guy, makes me think Vegas doubts Manuel plays.

Half the juice
Wtf does that mean?
Posted on 9/20/11 at 4:47 pm to Hullabaloo
Juice is the fee.
As in when I bet, I actually bet 22 to win 20 or 110 to win 100. Usually it is 10% but not always. So half the juice probably meant 5%.
ETA: the reason for this is that a spread is designed to get half the people to bet on one side, not how they think the game will turn out. That way if they get people to bet 50/50, they collect the juice.

haha
The teaser pays like 115 instead of 130.
In other words, normally $130 bet would win $100 whereas using this promotion, a $115 bet would win $100.

How in the hell did the georgia line go down?

no, it is not.
vegas wants to rake maximum profit each game. so if they can influence the public to bet on the wrong side of the line - they do so.
to illustrate, last week in the notre dame vs MSU game: vegas kept on raising the line further in NDs favor which led to more people betting on MSU to cover (over 80%). vegas felt that notre dame was far superior while the public (squares) would take the bait and pick MSU to cover the spread.
at the end of the game, vegas had made huge profit since ND covered easily; it would have been silly to get half the people on one side and half on the other when they could have made hundreds of thousands more by encouraging more money on the MSU side.

Then they would be gambling. Bookies will take that 10% all day long.
The line changes to balance out the money. They aren't interested in trying to tell which side is better. They will take that 10% guaranteed rather than risk losing a lot.

Yes it is
1) thats why lines move
2) vegas doesnt gamble. they wouldnt have the profitable business that they do if they "picked" winners.
all they want to do is collect juice. if there is 50/50 betting on both sides they guarantee themselves a nice profit
