Can you name any basketball players from the World War II era?Posted by OysterPoBoy

Everyone can name a dozen baseball players from the time. They are heroes of the game. But what about basketball? The game has been played since the 1800s but we can only name Pete Maravich and the guy from the NBA logo?
What is going on here? Is it because it’s all white guys?

The NBA wasn't formed until after WWII. Professional baseball has been around a lot longer than the NBA. The MLB existed before the sport of basketball did.

George Mikan was the first superstar of the NBA. which started after World War 2 ended.
If you mean college players from the 1940’s, no, can’t name one.

The NBA Finals were shown on tape-delay into the 1980s. Aside from few diehards, pro basketball wasn’t household news during the war, Elvis, Woodstock, or Disco.
