Can we finally unanimously agree that the Thunder screwed up the Harden trade?

Serves Clay Bennett right for being a cheapass. They had one more year of harden for free before resigning and paying the tax. We could've had another Bulls like dynasty.

Are there people arguing otherwise?

Dude... How many times do we have to post that Harden wasn't going to resign?

Story just ran in okc paper about it.
@BillSimmons: OKC newspaper piece about the Harden trade leaves out the key point - they didn't have to trade him when they did. LINK

And this is why Bill Simmons has been talking about this all day. Hearted wanted 60 the team only offered him 54. Presti gave him an hour to decide on taking that deal.

Harden was going to resign..if they would pony up $6M Extra.
It's amazing that the owner wanted a $6M discount on a contract that is worth half of hardens actual value

I don't like revisionist history, but it had to happen. They should have gotten more for him and waited for a better package. But Harden could not co-exist with Westbrook and Durant anymore. It stifled his growth and he would have never became the player he is now, on that team. It was apparent his last year with them. He needed a change of scenery and a team of his own. The trade made him a star. For the Thunder, they needed to stay flexible and add more depth. They have swung and missed on role players and guys in the draft. But keeping Harden would not have fixed that. They would be way over the cap (paying tons in penalties, have no depth and Harden would be pouting or fighting Westbrook for touches.. I think it all worked out for the best..

No.. It happened so quick because he said he wasn't resigning with OKC.. They offered almost a max contract for a guy to come off the bench.

Don't let the after thoughts fool you. He wanted to be the guy. Everbody knew that a year before they traded him.

Yes. I agree that Harden is the best player in the NBA.

Great points. But if Durant has chronic foot problems (which I think is possible), I will really feel for the Thunder.

It will be a shame. Durant is a special player. But a team can only have so many stars or big money players. I just don't think it is as big of a deal as some think it is. They might have been a better team if Harden stayed, maybe. But all 3 stars would be lesser players today. Durant probably doesn't win an MVP last season. Harden isn't in contention this season. OKC doesn't beat the Spurs in 2013 or 2014. The Spurs were a team on a mission. Even if they do, Miami destroyed them with Harden in 2012. Without significant changes, OKC gets beaten down by the Heat every time. Like I said, I think it all turned out the best for everybody involved..

Wrong. The Thunder win a championship in 2013 with that team.

I won't. They should be the Sonics and I wish for them the 76ers/Clippers treatment (before cp3 and Blake, obviously.)

trading for perkins is what f'd up the thunder....
with the right coach a small ball lineup of
Ibaka
Durant
Green
Harden
Westbrook.
would be awesome to watch.
