I mean for just 7U there are 7 different groups 7uAAA, 7uAA, 7uA, 7u All star, Coach pitch or kid pitch. Couldnt find on the site so was looking for some clarity. TIA

I think the transition from leagues to travel ball over the past 10-15 years has been bad for the game. Has anyone done any research to back up that hunch?

But it's done wonders for the pocket books of ligament surgeons and the owners of the ball parks.

So basically you have a bad "all star" team if you are playing in "A" or its the start of the program and you havent been elevated yet. Got it. My nephew is playing in sulphur this week and was confused by the multiple 7u brackets figured they would all be together, either you're good enough or you're not.

How cute. You've got much to learn about the world of travel baseball. Good luck to your nephew.

If your kid isn't a 7u All Star, He'll never make it to the Bigs.

There is Major group too which is the best of the best. Look up Texas Banditos major

Unless you're sandbagging in AAA, anything below Major is honestly no better than your local youth league. Major is what travel ball was meant to be as far as competition level. Most AAA and pretty much all AA teams are bad to terrible.

There is no major level that I know of for 7u.
AAA is the highest level 7u team and are typically very good teams. Most of the AAA teams in the Houston area are like club teams where the players all have to try out to make the team. Many of these have specific baseball facilities that they practice at and often times, they are playing year round.
AA is better than any local youth league and just about any all star teams. These teams may not play year round, but they are typically made up from try outs or hand selected teams and have good players.
My son played on a 7u AA team this past fall. We were an average tournament team that played about .500 ball in our tournament games. We played in a select league as well in our local area sports league and went 12-0 with an average win margin over 7 runs a game.

What is the name of your nephew's team?
My son's best friend plays on a team that is playing in the AAA level of that tournament. There are also several teams that we played during our season in the AA level that I will be paying attention to see how they all do.

Spot on.

Totally false. Local youth leagues are atrocious. Their all star teams are also bad, of course there are exceptions in some areas.

These are the top players regionally in their age bracket. At an early age these major teams have kids with talent but they play too much and don't practice baseball fundamentals enough. The reason for this is that the kids on the team live MILES apart and show up to play together. Most are lucky if they practice twice a week. The AAA teams that practice and learn baseball fundamentals thru the years catch up to a lot of these kids that were classified as "major" at an early age.

That's just not true at all and pretty ignorant.
7u hardly has any AAA teams at all, if any. And if you are AAA at 8u, which is the highest class in USSSA 8u, you are just flat out legit. Even AA at 8u in USSSA has a bunch of really really good teams.

Maybe I took the OP wrong. The OP said, JUST in 7U there are x amount of differences and was asking for clarification. In 7u, yes AAA is the highest and there are good AA teams. Once you get to an appropriate age for travel ball, not 7 years old imo, the gap between Major and AA is unbelievable. I've seen major teams destroy even really good AAA teams. I've seen "Open" tournaments change their classification as soon as a Major called to enter.
AA is generally bad and typically just a money grab from coaches/organizations. Major teams can be honestly laughable with their recruitment/tactics. I saw an 11 year old flown in to pitch one game for a tournament in Shreveport. That's just crazy to me. He lost btw on a balk.

Then again, I don't think there's any reason to travel on a team until at least 11-12 years old. Gives you 3-4 years on a travel team to see better competition before high school. Then in high school if that's the path you want to choose, play on the select teams that will come calling. I think everything has a season and kids are better off playing 3-4 sports at least until high school.

In louisiana, if the high school coach cares about his program he will keep his team together all summer and play in tournaments.
There's no lhsaa rule that limits baseball practice time in the summer.

And if the kid is worth a wooden nickel he'll play other sports in the offseason.
