I think Alabama and Miami winning out is their best chance.

It would also help if they blow the doors off of Wisconsin again in the Big Ten Championship.

Maybe. But the argument exists. Point is Ohio State has options

And a 12-1 Bama has a meh resume.

The CFP committee tries to keep the BIG in contention so hard ..

Everyone realizes the sole reason for the playoff committee system as presently constituted was to keep the B1G relevant when it was created, right?

Absolutely

But I'm not convinced the loser of SEC title stays ahead of Ohio State

Probably so. Clemson could still be a threat, but the conference championship is probably the difference.

Ohio State needs to go against 2 loss teams. The reasonable one loss teams in the mix aren't favorable IMO.

All it really takes is Bama beating Auburn and then losing to UGA.

11-2 Ohio State has better resume than 12-1 Bama

It's best for OSU for Bama to win out. If Bama were to lose, it's better for them to lose to Auburn, then their schedule isn't as good.

If they are 12-1 it's hard for OSU, if they're 11-1 and lose to Auburn, it's much easier as their resume won'be that good and they won't have played in their conference title game.

2017 Bama may end up being 2015 OSU in that scenario

Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, and an FSU team the committee has said they treat differently.

That's comparable to Ohio State's resume, and it presumably doesn't include a blowout loss, something OSU has seen twice.

What is the current path to a 12-1 Alabama?

If both win out. ND's resume would be light years better than OSU having beat the top 2 teams in the Pac12 + a couple top 30ish teams in NC St and Navy + a better common opponent win beating MSU on the road. And much "better loses

Playing on the road isn't worth 25 points, even to the computers.

better loses
