Williams can do one twitter ad for Beats and meet the rule.

Right that’s an exchange of funds for a service. With that level of funds being exchanged, it’s a given he’ll be doing some sort of advertising or another for them.

I seriously doubt that all the guys with deals from Aggies and TU’s recruiting classes and position groups will be doing a single damned thing to earn those funds other than exist.

For anyone who uses Twitter and Instagram, how many followers does Caleb Williams have compared to say Bryce Young or CJ Stroud?

Wow that's easily one of the cooler endorsements too. Beats headphones are notoriously expensive af but people still buy them. Like iPhones

The wired EP ones are pretty good for the price.

Tell me you don’t know shite about socialism and sports without telling me you don’t know about socialism and sports.

imagine what a truly transcendent, legit celebrity college player like Reggie Bush or Tim Tebow would get in today's NIL market

The Johnny Manziel endorsements likely would have been hilarious.

Hell, the damn music college is named after those 2. That's how much money they have donated to the school.

Just wait until another high school phenom like Zion or Lebron comes along in basketball and the shoe deal he signs. It’s going to be large. Lebron signed a $100M out of high school with Nike. Imagine had he been forced to go to college for a year and NIL was a thing back then.

Even the most elite players still need the schools more than the schools need them

Absolutely false. Players like Derek Stingley showed you they don't need the school at all. We've seen numerous players opt out showing you they don't need the school or NCAA football to get to their desired destination (The NFL).

this… we’re smarter now. The old days when they didn’t let freshmen play and then wanted you to stay all four years are over. A lot of players lost a lot of money from those rules.

Had Derek Stingley not played on a national title winning team, would he be as marketable just based on his potential out of high school? Maybe there's a handful of players who could make good money without the schools, but the vast majority 100% need the schools more than the schools need them for the platforms the schools provide for the players. Fans will keep watching their teams regardless of who's playing on them. College football has been alive and well for a lot longer than players have been making a lot of money.

Conversely, fans wouldn't watch professional minor league football if it was even a thing, and if such a league did exist, 99% of the players would be paid jack squat just like minor league players in other sports. Maybe the top 50 or so high school prospects have signing bonuses for good sums of money, but most would not.

I feel pretty confident that neither side needs each other. A minor league with the top recruits would get along just fine. As would colleges getting the rest and just continuing on doing their own thing

Id watch both

So Stingley never played college football? That’s what you are saying.

I mentioned that with the USFL and people said it wouldn’t happen for elite players because they need the exposure and resources that colleges provide.

So which is it?

What a dumb remark. The USC QB is a high profile persona in LA. This is a drop in the bucket.

What's your interest in denying a kid in this situation this deal?

Why would I be in favor of or support a change that in no way benefits me personally?

This isn’t 2005…

He isn’t Leinart…

The PAC 12 isn’t a major football conference.

Bryce Young is a bigger name in LA.
