Byrd is a magnet school and a significant portion of their students live out of district. So they're select.

Byrd is essentially two schools under one roof. Half of the school is a traditional high school. Half is a magnet school.

If it were a neighborhood school it would be very poor. The influence of its alumni has kept it alive and well.
