I like what Stevens and Few have built. They unlike say Capel, Grant, and Smart, don't need to leave VCU..

Butler and Gonzaga are the Boise States of Hoops, but unlike BSU Foots, whom will never fully draw enough roster talent for Boise to win a BCSCG..

The Dawgs and Zags can realistically make runs at NCAA Hardware, in the day and age of early NBA defections. Sure Ky, Kan, Ind, Syr, UCLA, Duke, Mich, MSU, Az,etc..will get the lionshare of Parade AA talent. But, NCAA Hoops small rosters give them the ability to sustain excellence, and make runs.

But, yeah, long story short..Duke, UNC, Kan,etc..will come calling one day.

The big thing is that Gonzaga and Butler can keep players for three years in their systems. That allows them to compete come tournament time. They'll never be able to recruit McDonald's All Americans.

Key to the game was shutting down Kevin Pangos, Gonzaga's best shooter.

Exactly, they are the poster-children for 'Program Players' into today's NCAA Hoops.

The red-light doesn't matter. There was still time on the clock and that is what the call is based off of.

The red light notwithstanding there refs completely blew the end of the game when they refused to call the clear pushing foul by Butler's on Gonzaga's Olynyk. Gonzaga should have won that game by 20 if it wasn't for the officiating which was probably the worst I've seen since the NBA's replacement refs were on the court.

they weren't gonna call a game deciding one way or the other. they were letting them beat and bang all night, so it wasn't that huge of a deal.

replay also showed .1 on the clock when he let go.

Their main problem is that duke and Kansas do exactly what they do but better. Duke and Kansas get better players to stay around for multiple years and get better coaching in that time. But butler and gonzaga still do it extremely well.

they just bleed shot clock and attempt to play games in the 50s.

This is why I can't watch the Big 10, especially Wisconsin. Bo Ryan has been doing that shite for years. They are the Stoke CIty of college basketball.

Yeah, Bo Ryan is main perpetrator of playing ugly basketball. His teams are rarely good enough to make the Final Four, but they almost always win at least one game in the tournament, because they can sit on a four point lead in the second half while bleeding shot clock.

Still firmly believe Gonzaga blew out Butler last night in all aspects of the game but the officiating was biased towards the home team. I think the Zags are top 6 team even with the orchestrated loss last night.

The officiating I saw was pretty good. They let the two teams decide it on the court which is really all you can ask for. You can say Gonzaga is alot better, but Butler is now 3-0 against top 10 teams this year so they're doing something right

There were a few iffy calls last night. My only complaint was a period of about five possessions where the officials called a foul every time. It killed the flow of the game and it really only recovered until the last two minutes. That favored Butler in that Gonzaga always looks to run the break and couldn't because of all the clock stoppages.

Stevens has coached that team impeccably. Even the foul on Olynyk late was a hallmark of a well disciplined team. Olynyk had made a move to get room for a gimme layup or dunk. The Butler player fouled him on the arm disabling Olynyk's ability to get a clean shot off.
