I'm a southerner, and proud...don't need a flag for that...

There's revisionist history....and then there is REVISIONIST history. Holy cow.
I'm sure he knows why the flag made a big comeback during the civil rights era. frickers sure didn't waive American flags while sayiing go back to africa, **** go home, keep our schools white.
ETA: White people up north that fought against Integration didn't need a confederate flag for that. Where do they think the Brown vs Board of Education fight got started at....not a confederate or southern state.

Well don't ignore the first part of my post. Can't somebody be proud of the south without being a racist? Because that's all this comes down to. Flag of the south doesn't mean racism to everybody so stop saying it's always meant to be racist. It's just not. This car was obviously never meant to portray racism.

Read my post again. I never said anyone wearing a Confederate flag is a racist and I fully support any individual's right to wear/fly it as they see fit. I just think it's in bad taste.
You can be a proud southerner (I am myself!) without wearing a flag that was used as a symbol by racists.

You have the racist in the 60's to blame for that....your KKK friends to blame for that because they sure are protesting in a few weeks over the flag...If people didn't use the flag as a symbol for the fight against Integration, they it wouldn't be viewed as racist. They could have used the American flag back then. If states didn't put the flag on their capitols as a fight against Integration then nobody would have a problem.
People know why that flag became popular...don't sit here and act dumb.

You see, now you've gone and introduced actual facts to the discussion, with no regard for some of our compatriots' needs to eye-frick the decussate-bedecked flag.
Shame on you.
Shame on you.

Ok, and in my example you can be a Redskins fan and not have a skins logo in your car. Others might choose to. That's also bad taste. But still doesn't mean racism.

Redskins flag or logo wasn't used as a frick you to 'yankees' trying to force race mixing, kids to go to school with negroes, etc...
Ask some of the older people in your family when the flag made a big comeback and why??? Hell look at old pics from the south back from the 1900's-1950's...you hardly see the flag. Look at pics from the 60's, see the flag all over.lol. Wonder why. What happened during that time.
Hell during WWI, WWII, and Korean war you didn't see southern boys taking pics with Confederate Flag....come vietnam war...you can see lots of pics of the flag. Wonder why
I'm all for people having the flag...but to sit here and say it's all about pride and heritage is false..When older blacks and whites will tell you why the flag became popular.

Oh, really? Cool.
Leave the flag behind then. Not necessary to be proud one is from the south

I actually partly agree with this post. And that's why I'm defending those who choose to display the flag without racist intentions. If the only ones still flying the flag are the klan, then it becomes a racist symbol. So when dukes of hazard and walmart and bubba start to cave in to this thinking it contributes to making it more and more of a strictly racist symbol. And that's depressing for someone who is a proud southerner. I like to think there's much more to the south than racism. Others like to think that's all there is to the south.
I'd rather bubba say "I'm a proud southerner and it's heritage not hate" and let the sjw's move on to their next stupid cause.

People need to feel like they were important enough to overcome some type of hardship.
I will always look upon the battle flag with pride.

I thought the American flag represented the South along with the rest of the country.
Those damn terrorist don't care if you're from the fricking south...Chinese don't care if you're from the damn south, Russia sure as hell don't care if you're from the south...
Go to North Korea and carry a Confederate flag, just tell them you're from the south. Doubt if they'd welcome you with open arms, and release you from jail if they think you're a spy, only because you're from the Southern United States....

And we might eventually have to leave it behind. Similar to how the swastica became a nazi sign but was not originally intended to be about hate.
I don't want that to happen but if enough non-racists give it up it becomes that. That's the only reason anybody cares. That and we are sick of all the PC police telling everyone what they can and can't do.

If people have family members that fought and died for the south, then I don't blame you for fighting for the flag....but why not use the original one...you can easily buy those...Heard someone say Louisiana was out of the war when the flag of "Northern Virginia" or current confederate flag was used to represent the south...maybe they were wrong.
I want to see how many people show up with confederate flags to say "frick you" to the KKK and tell the KKK to go home when they protest at the South Carolina state house. IF it's not used for hate,,,it's time to show it...
Ole Miss took a stand against the KKK over the rebels fight...can see the videos on youtube.. That was a sight to see...they told the KKK to go home, etc.

Well, except the creator of the flag in question explicitly meant it to convey the hateful agenda of white supremacy
I get where you're going with that line of thought, though.

Thank you... do people not know this??? I believe the first design of the current flag had a white background...stood for white superiority but people thought it looked too much like a surrender flag because of all the white in it....but the flag was meant for white supremacy...that's probably why it became popular in the civil rights era.

All of this is correct.
Like any symbol, it'll never stand for any one thing to every single person, but there's no denying the divisive, racist roots of the rebel flag. It's inescapable, I don't care how much "southern pride" spin folks try to put on it.
