We get that you hate Harper as well. Harper did not act like an idiot. We have an umpire that wanted to be the star of the show so he acts like a big baby and gets into it with one of the biggest stars of the game

And we get it: Harper is your hetero man crush.

that's not the one thing that got him ejected

The umps ego got him ejected.

he didn't necessarily comply with the ump.

Did he or did he not step into the box after the ump told him to?

The more accurate thread title would be "Harper got tossed for showing up umpire after umpire acted like an idiot"

Perfect. Both parties were wrong. Period.

Problem is: an ump can't toss a player for failing to get back in the box. Ump has to first "warn" the player by giving the player a (penalty) strike for delaying the game. So that's why ultimately the ump is wrong. And that's why the ump tried to cover his a** in his post game media comments, saying that he did not toss Harper for failing to get back in the box (because if the ump admitted to that, he would be admitting he broke the rules).

So is your comprehension. Saying someone does something does not make it true. So yeah I guess reading is hard

The next time the Nationals took the field they should have thrown a high fastball and had their catcher pull his glove at the last second so the pitch hit that homo ref right in the fricking mouth

What would happen as a result of them doing that? Ejections? Fines? suspension? I don't know baseball, but I assume intentionally beaming the ump is frowned upon. So what would come of it?

You have consistently said Harper showed up the umpire or "Harper being Harper". That is acting like an idiot which he did not

All of the above for the pitcher.. probably for the catcher and maybe the manager. Maybe a fine to the organization.

I get what you're saying but obviously this can be debated until people are blue in the face.

Harper doesn't show up the ump = Harper doesn't get ejected.

That's the end game.

I actually took it the same way. Harper was trying to show up the ump and was acting like a little defiant kid. He deserved to be tossed.

Are baseball umps the biggest pussies in the world? And we are ok with it because "well, that's baseball." If that is "showing up" and deserves an ejection for hurting Mr. Umps feelings, then baseball players should start wearing ballerina outfits instead of uniforms

You couldn't do the equivalent of what Harper did in any other sport without drawing some kind of technical or personal foul.

I don't understand why it is a mutually exclusive event for the ump to do something wrong, and see why he did it. God damn. It's like talking to three year olds.

I see why he got tossed

The pointing at the box and wording what looked like "that box? That box???" sure didn't help.

Exactly. Just pointing out that he did do something besides stepping out of the box doesn't necessarily mean you have to agree with the actions of the umpire up until that point.

ETA: It's really no different than his ejection last week. Umpire should have asked for help on the check swing, didn't, and called Harper out himself. Harper argued and was tossed. Even though he had a point it doesn't mean he shouldn't have been ejected.
