If my kids wanted to go to Brother Martin, I'd go check it out... isn't it located in the hood? And I'd give it a fair shake, being that I've always considered it up there with Rummel and Jesuit. But I've seen no evidence of that in my experience.

If your kids want to go to Rummel, you'd being selling them short to say no.

It's like my mom wanted me to go to Jesuit before my dad (not a Rummel grad) stepped in and said let's go check out this Rummel school that he is interested in. And my mom feel in love with Rummel. It's a great school. Brother Martin was never even an option worthy of consideration for any of us. But that was just my experience. Like I said, if my kids wanted to go to Brother Martin, I'd give it a fair shake like my dad did when I wanted to go to Rummel.

and just for the record, i am not saying Rummel is a bad school. just the statements about BM kids being Rummel rejects is just stupid. if there was a way to show stats like that or w/e, i am 95% sure you would be proven wrong. but anyway, heres to a good game

People that are in their 50's and up tell me Gentilly used to be a nice neighborhood, but since then they have all moved out.

oh, it is by no means the same neighborhood it used to be, but what area is? i would not consider it the "hood" though.

Fair enough. And that statement was just talking smack the same way you Brother Martin people are talking smack about Rummel. It's like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton all arguing about who is better than who... when reality is they are all great schools that most people would love to go to, and would love sending their kids to.

As for the game, it's going to be great. 5-0 Rummel vs 5-0 Defending Catholic League Champs Brother Martin. I'd imagine both teams are currently ranked in the Top Ten of the Louisiana football polls, if not the Top Five.

Jesuit> Brother Martin> Rummel/HC. You do realize that Rummel has remedial classes which is basically special ed. And no one that has ever been kicked out of Rummel has moved on to Jesuit or BM. But I can name several specific examples the other way around. I don't think you can give evidence otherwise. And frankly, I could really care less how the game goes. I have very close friends from all the schools and you can get a good education at each.

You do realize that everyone who attends Rummel is not in "special ed" classes right? Also Rummel is an Archdiocesan catholic school unlike both Jesuit and Brother Martin so we are responsible for providing a catholic education to everyone. The powers that be often make Rummel accept those "kicked out" of other schools. These students are provisionally accepted, subject to frequent and random drug testing and if they fail a drug screen they are out.

Of course, I know some very intelligent guys that went there.

Fair enough, at least you admit it unlike the other guy.

I just looked at Brother Martin's website, and they say "Brother Martin offers a college prep curriculum in three levels of classes: Advanced Placement, Honors, and Academic – we do not offer remedial classes."

Yes, when I was at Rummel, we offered AP, Honors, Academic, and Basic (which was just one class when I was at Rummel, just like 20-30 students max... and it depended on what subject they were struggling in... and no, it was not "special ed"... it was just for the kids that couldn't hang with the Academic kids in that particular subject). Advantage Rummel, IMO. By separating the Basic kids into the Basic class, those kids don't bring down the Academic kids. Brother Martin should learn from this. Oh sure, you can say Brother Martin just doesn't have kids that should be put into a Basic class in the first place, but that's a bunch of crap. Brother Martin has that same small group of dumb kids that Rummel has, but Brother Martin doesn't separate them from the general population like Rummel does. Advantage Rummel, IMO.

As for Rummel taking Brother Martin kids, Jesuit, Rummel, and Brother Martin all take kids from each other. I know kids that went from Rummel to Brother Martin or to Jesuit and vice-versa. In my graduating class, I knew of two guys that transferred from Brother Martin. Both of them were two of the nicest, well-behaved gentlemen I've ever met in my life. I'm not sure how they did in school -- I never had a class with either of them (except for PE with one of them). I'm still friends with one them. I'll have to ask him why he left Brother Martin... I assume because he liked Rummel better. But I'll ask him. The guy I know that transferred from Jesuit to Rummel did so because he was Asian and Jesuit was too racist for him. As for Brother Martin kids I knew growing up, like I said, all the kids that struggled in school at my grammar school went to Brother Martin. The kids that did well went to Rummel. I didn't know any other Brother Martin people when I was in high school, but I had friends at Jesuit, and they didn't like it over there... whereas all my friends and I that went to Rummel loved it.

And Rummel also gives athletic scholarships.

Wow. You are either very much full of shite or don't have a clue what you're talking about. Which one is it?

What players have received these mythical athletic scholarships you are talking about? Athletic scholarships are illegal. The LHSAA has visited Rummel before and also agree that Rummel is playing by the same rules as everyone else.

What other bullshite do you feel like posting?

Brother Martin's program needs some more money so they can buy some more expensive uniforms like the ones the Rummel rich kids wear...

I also found it funny that Rummel being such a "shite school" like many claim, opened its arms to other students during Katrina. Only to constantly be shite on down the road as such a horrible place, and how much better all other schools are.

People forget how courteous these "East Jeff thugs" were when students from all over attended when their schools were shut down.

Shame those wrestler and cross country boys weren't coordinated enough to play a real sport like the kids at the other schools. But that's the kids at Brother Martin for you.

dude wrestling was like the first sport in the history of the world

there is a reason football players/wrestlers puke on their first day of wrestling practice
