Lots of the latest insider info being tossed around on TCU's message board killerfrogs.com (so much so that I think they had to switch servers).

ETA:

The MWC website had said that Nevada has accepted as well. Now it doesn't... said that officials are "traveling and unavailable for comment at the moment"...

The Mountain West is putting the pressure on the Big East. The Big East is STILL sitting there with 8....yes 8 teams and still gets an auto BCS bid. I dont think that is enough! I cant wait to see what the NCAA does.

Makes sense for Fresno State. They always considered Boise State their rival. Be a better conference all around for them too.

So this move begs the question...who becomes the 12th member?

SMU, Houston, UTEP.....Montana

SMU adds nothing to the MWC that TCU doesn't already bring, that being a small inroad to the DFW area.

Houston is possible, if they want a small inroad into the Greater Houston area. I wouldn't rule it out.

UTEP makes sense geographically but that's about it. The rumor of a UTEP/LaTech swap between WAC and CUSA probably makes more sense.

I've not heard anything about Montana wanting to move up to FBS. Again another geographic move but not much added elsewhere.

Nevada is officially MWC now.

Tell you what - That's going to be a helluva good baseball conference as well.

BYU would be stupid to try and leave now.

Perhaps. But there is no doubt that this is a move by the MWC to cock block BYU's little power move. With no WAC to dump its non-fooball athletic programs in, BYU has to turn to another conference like the WCC, or stick with the MWC with perhaps a better TV deal.

Well played by the MWC.

I disagree, i actually think this is power move by BYU. BYU threatening to leave the MWC made the conference expand and get stronger. What would the MWC have been without BYU? GREAT move by BYU! BYU would be insane to join the WAC now!!!

Exactly, you ever hear anyone refer to LSU by that name?

Well no but that's because the Cal-State System is about 49584 times bigger than the LSU System.

Houston or Tulsa would make the most sense. They need the 12th team to be someone who will win 10 games a year for the next couple of years. That factors into the mathematical formula for becoming an autobid conference.

I just don't get Nevada. They're not very good and they don't expand the footprint.
