Still can't believe he was there that long.
Darnold saved his job and then I think USC just wanted someone as safe as pudding during the pay for admission scandal and all the other shite surrounding the school.

Helton may be a great guy but great coaches tend to be morally corrupt assholes who don't give a shite about mentoring.
Aww shucks doesn't cut it in CFB. So many supposedly clean coaches in College Sports turn out to be suspect later on. I think most programs gamble and bet on nobody snitching because that's the only way you get caught. NCAA isn't the FBI. They don't even have subpoena power. They just take the word of reporters with an axe to grind.
Its almost impossible to be busted. You have to be so big that everyone hates you and is gunning for you in the Press. Or you have a closed wall around your program like Alabama compared to open door USC.
USC has been a timid scared cat for a decade. Settling on mediocre for PR purposes.
