So am I. After 3 down years in a row I'm ready to get back in the mix again.

So I passed by the Disney Wide World of Sports and the Atlanta Braves Spring Training Complex yesterday on my way to the Orlando airport on my way back to NOLA....place was as empty as Turner Field during a playoff run.

What gives?

CF is a crap shoot.

Gregor Blanco is a solid CF. He started pretty much the whole season last year and he did better than anyone else we had besides Chipper and McCann.

I'd rather Josh Anderson or Schafer. Maybe Blanco will prove me wrong, but I'm not sold on him as a solid CF.

The Braves pitching staff is wildly underrated. I'm actually more excited about this season than last. If Francoeur can remember what hitting the ball is like, that would be great. Kotchman will come around. I'm ready.

We were pretty stacked at the beginning of preseason last year. Had M.Tex, Kotsay, Smoltz, Hudson, healthy M.Hampton (for a couple of weeks), a good francoer, and Peter Moylan.

slugged .309 with 1 HR and 38 rbi in 430 AB's last year. 3/2 k/bb ratio.

Solid.

I've seen J.Anderson and he is definetly no better than G.Blanco. I heard Schafer was pretty good, but I haven't seen him. I can make a safe bet that G.Blanco is the starter at the beggining of the year, but it might change.

When I said solid, I meant good enough to start. I didn't say he was great or awesome. Batting .309 is good enough to start. And he was the leadoff hitter for a while, so he didn't get RBI's often and he had no power.

pitching is better IMO, but having Garret Anderson as your clean up hitter has to make you worried a little

Batting .309

He slugged .309
And while Anderson isn't an All Star CF, he can at least do a little bit of damage on the base paths, at least until Schafer is ready.

He 'slugged' .309.

I included the k/bb ratio because I knew you'd say something about him leading off.

Say what you want about Garret Anderson but I was wetting my bed nightly at the thought of Blanco/Diaz manning left field.

I'll be the first one to tell anyone that I wasnt pleased with the K-Rod signing and that I wanted Brian Fuentes (on a short term cheaper contract) instead, but:

K-Rod, JJ, and the possibility of Wagner being available in September sure beats out relying on Luis Alaya, Joe Smith, and Scott Schoenweis.

So say that what the Mets have now over what they had last September is not an improvement, pen-wise is pretty damn ignorant.

yes its an improvement, but krod had an average season last year, he was jus the product of the angels style of ball which didnt blow a lot of teams out

Ok, Blanco will start at the beginning of the year, but Shafer will end up beating him out. I just don't see J.Anderson being the everyday starting CF for an WS contending team. We'll just have to wait and see.
