His rookie year:

His second year:
.273/.383/.401, 108 OPS+
But yeah, since then he has been average.
His 3rd year he was bad.
But every year since then he's posted an OPS+ over 100.
He doesn't hit for average or get on base a lot, but he brings other things to the plate (power and speed).
I'm not saying he's going to turn into a .300 hitter, but certainly better than he's done.

Back in the day there was an old axiom about defense. You can take a non hitter up the middle... C, 2B, SS, CF if he's good on defense. But you can't take two of them.

I didn't like it even when it was a rumor for him being a target. BJ plus Uggla equals way too many strikeouts. Honestly I kinda feel like the Reed Johnson/Schafer CF should stay in place and BJ could take a bench role.

First didn't like the signing for the money, but if it brought Justin Upton in then that makes it all great. I don't believe Justin is as willing to to come to ATL without BJ.
