Ted Williams. In my lifetime, Tony Gwynn.

Just sort by descending OBP. Answer is Ted Williams.

You just described Ted Williams.
Well Ted Williams is the answer, but in my lifetime it would be Barrold Lamar Bonds

If the question was "Pick a broadcaster to call this moment," Aaron Boone would be near the bottom of the list

I would take Barry Bonds today--at 50 years old--over anybody else who ever lived in their prime.

Barry Bonds easily, imo.
In the early 2000s, Barry was the perfect batter. Great plate discipline, outstanding power.

Although I never saw him play and just going by the stories you hear, I can only say Ted Williams.
God dammit Prom that's exactly who I was gonna pick.

Honestly, this may be the best answer in the thread.

Lot depends on the pitcher said batter would face. Obviously Ted Williams (not sure how he'd fair against today's pitchers) and Barry Bonds are on the list...I would put Ortiz on the list for being clutch.

Rod Carew. No other choice

Jared foster in left field...

Derek Jeter. I know he won't be a popular choice but he had a flair for the dramatics.
If not him, then Ty Cobb

If you just need a base hit or walk, Pete Rose, Ted Williams, Rod Carew.

GTFO. Billy Hamilton's career OPB is .297. Bonds' WORST season was .329 and he was .444 for his career. Hamilton is fast but he sucks at getting on base.
