I'm not sure how stupid one person can be, but this would definitely be up there. This might be the dumbest thing a team owner has ever done.

People are so soft, it’s an expression. What’s more racist? Using that phrase or assuming that “inmates” is exclusively a black thing?

False.

quote:

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Sunday that any of his players who disrespect the flag during the national anthem won't play in games.

"If we are disrespecting the flag then we won't play. Period. We're going to respect the flag, and I'm going to create the perception of it. And we have."

It's a common statement made at a terrible time.

I think it was worse one owner calling Anquan Boldin, "Antwan" repeatedly.

Would it have been better if he said "monkeys running the zoo"?

I don’t disagree with him, because I’m sick of these fricking protests, BUT, there are some things that are better left unsaid.

Nonetheless, it's a dump expression in this context.

ETA - for the sake of clarity, dumb =/= offensive. It's just a stupid thing to say regardless.

He didn't say asylum, he said prison, which is more unfortunate. However, to spin that into being racist is just that, a spin.

He apologized immediately after. He's in his 80's. Feel like this kind of outrage is why we're in this boat to begin with.

Bob McNair's a 79 year old dude from North Carolina. This kind of talk is pretty normal a dude like him.

It's a stupid fricking thing to say and he should know better. With that being said, he's old as frick and given his background. This shouldn't shock anyone.

Which is ridiculous. If you're going to say it, own it. Explain yourself, but an apology just empowers the "offended" even more.
