The game is known by several names over the years. As far as I know, it was first known as One Cushion Carom and later called Straight Rail Billiards, then morphed into Balkline and finally Three Cushion Billiards.
The game is still popular in Europe, but has faded in the U.S. over the years.
I can't think of any pool hall I've ever been in that had one of these tables and I've only been in one that even had a snooker table and that thing looks like a football field when compared to a regulation pool table used for 8 and 9 ball games.
