I do. Its a showcase game for your conference. You want it played in the best elements possible. Thats why I never understood teh Big 12 plaiyng their title game in KC.

Agree.

I prefer Indy, I'm just saying Chicago's not a bad option.

I think I would have gone with Chicago. Just because of the atmosphere of that city.

If you want to make money (which I assume the Big ~Ten wants to do), you have to be able to sell corporate tickets and tickets to big money boosters. Those people don't want to sit outside in a snowstorm.

When you think of a Big Ten city, you think Chicago. Just a huge city in a pretty central location that is a natural hub for all sorts of Big Ten fans. For me, when I think of an SEC city, I think of Atlanta. Big Twelve, Dallas (both those are just my opinion). And Chicago is that city for the Big Ten.

I think the city of Chicago itself is the best option. It has more to do than Indy, is that "natural" Big Ten city, and is even slightly more central than Indy, I believe. However, Indy is still a very nice city and very central, and the fact that stadium is so nice and indoor for the corporate people makes it an easy choice.

Did those guys not buy tickets to the Big XII title game when it was in KC?

Will they not buy tickets to the Super Bowl in New Jersey?

Check out where the loudest protests have come from on that topic. Heck, those are the guys who steadfastly believe that the SB should rotate between San Diego, NOLA, and Miami. Period.

You want in the "best elements". The conferences want to make the most money. Chicago is a more appealing city and HQ for the B1G, so I can see wanting to play there.

Outside of being really cold, how was the Big XII CG in KC in "bad" elements? Did it affect the quality of play at all? Not really.

It isn't even just about the corporate people, it's about the showcase of the game. It's your conference's brightest stage. It should be a clean game, not bad weather.

Ask OU in 2003 if the elements didn't take away from what they did.

I don't know, man. I think Oklahoma's performance where Sproles tore them up might have had something to do with the freezing cold. Then again, that beatdown didn't hurt the Okies.

Peej beat me to it.

I don't have to, because they did not. It was cold. It wasn't snowing, it wasn't raining and KSU was on the same field. How did cold weather affect OU's defense? How did it propel Sproles?

Nice red herring. Clearly if they can draw over 79,000 to KC TWICE, it didn't hurt at all to have it outside. It sold out. I would guess that because KC is closer to the schools in those games, than Houston in 2002 or SA in 2007, that location was a bigger factor.

ETA: Reliant in Houston holds over 70,000 and the econly in 2008 was not better than 2002.

I think it would be cool if they played it at Lambeau Field one year.

Ask Nebraska in 2006 how the weather affected them in that game vs OU.

Good decision to keep it Indy. I hope they extend it after 2015.

The Big Ten voted unanimously to have it there.

Just because the vote was unanimous, don't think for one second that will stop Nebraska from complaining about it a couple of years from now.

It's a nice stadium. I think Michigan might call it hope.
