Do they even try to recruit talented defensive players anymore?.. It seems like every team but TCU gives up 42 ppg.

no they don't. happy I don't have to hear Bob Stoops talk about how their defenses are great but QB play is better

I credit it more to good offenses and the fact that offensive players are protected way too much. Playing defense against an above average spread offense is almost impossible.

I do agree the Big 12 has some great offenses.

Malik Jefferson was like the top rated LB coming out of HS. He is a baller.

Go look at the number of defensive players drafted out of the Big 12. I heard it on the Russillo show one day this week. Something like only 5 in the last couple of years. There's C-USA teams that have had more players drafted in the last couple of years than the entire Big 12. So to answer the question, no they don't recruit good defensive players.

the problem is, everyone runs some sort of hurry up offense.

so, teams are recruiting smaller DL, that can stay on the field, and also have some pace to get 2 the qb.

BUt they also can get road graded, and because of being under sized, they can be controlled by OL, meaning ur corners are on an island.

You have some fat DL out there and the offenses will run them into the ground. So you have to get smaller, quicker, to keep on the field

West Virginia has had 5 defensive players drafted in the last 2 years, including a safety taken #8 overall and a second round CB

I think it may have been in the first 4 rounds now that I'm thinking about it. Like I said, I heard it on the Russillo show this week (maybe Wednesday).

Two Baylor defensive players were drafted in 2016 in the 2nd and 4th rounds. And their defense sucks arse

If you had to face their spread out hurry up offenses, you might not be so quick to judge.

Big12 recruits the best receivers in the country and some of the best QBs.

It's easy to defend against the Florida's, Tenneesee's, Vanderbilt's, Arkansas and Kentucky's of the world.

Terrible QB play in the SEC has jaded people into thinking that's good defensive football.

Today Florida had 33 total yards until their final drive.

No they don't. There's better receivers in the SEC every single year, and name the NFL cliber QBs in the Big 12. You had Mahomes at TTU and Rudolph at OSU, then who? Trevor Knight at Oklahoma or Buchele at Texas?

The receivers in the Big 12 are crazy good. Look at the guys WV has put out, K White, Bailey, Austin, etc. Same with the guys at Baylor, Okie State, and OU.

You think the SEC has better WR

Doctson
Coleman
Washington
Westbrook
Blackmon

The only WR that may be in that class is Cooper from SEC
