that would kill the red river shootout if they had one and then texas and OU met again...

Makes sense. The XII gets a championship game again, and the move is a huge boost to the cartel because it kills the MWC's chances of earning an autobid and lets two coalition schools in which takes the antitrust heat off.

fwiw, the big 12 does not schedule like the SEC and this would mean an entire change in how the big 12 schedules.

im not saying they wouldn't do it, im just assuming you didnt know that.

I know the Big XII doesn't currently do a permanent cross-division opponent, but there has been rumblings about going to the SEC format for quite some time, especially regarding the Oklahoma-Nebraska rivalry (which is now a moot point.)

One bit of speculation on their part: Notre Dame and BYU to the Big12. Seems like a pipe dream to me, but who knows.

Pipe dream for sure, but the one thing that could interest ND is the unequal revenue sharing in the Big 12. This would be significant as a restructured TV deal centered around UT, ND, OU, A&M, and BYU could be quite the money maker.

ETA: Another positive for ND would be to get into the fertile Texas recruiting ground, which they are obviously very interested in based on their recent scheduling of neutral site games in Dallas and their recent commitment to a series with UT.
