I would have to go with Tecmo Super Bowl. It was so good that fans have hacked/updated the game for college football and for each NFL season for the last several years, and there's even a web forum dedicated to the game.

I will say Coach K basketball, Madden 96, and NBA Live 95 signaled a shift in the EA Sports video games. They went from the Bulls vs Blazers (limited control) and the fat man football (Madden 95 and before) to actually being able to control a player with movements.

Madden 96 had the slimmer men who were faster and featured the expansion teams of Jacksonville and Carolina. Coach K came out before NBA Live 95, but was essentially the same game. You were able to control the players with moves, throw alleys, and actually dunk with a lot of players instead of the having Jordan run to certain spots of the floor to do his signature dunks like in Bulls vs the Blazers.

I still own Bulls vs the Blazers and have joe montana nfl football 94 somewhere. That Joe Montana football '94 was ahead of its time and stomped all John Madden football games before it. I would actually go an a limb and say it was better than Madden 96. you were able to control the players with a speed burst, spin, throw bombs and actually control your player to run to a spot on the field to catch it. Running back kick and punt returns was fun. My favorite football game after Tecmo Bowl.

NFL 94 staring joe Montana was really awesome once I found out I could run circles around the field with emmitt smith. I would literally break through the left side, run to the 1 yard line, turn right, head back to the other 1 yard line (made a mistake of going into wrong endzone and got caught once) and back up. Emmitt never ran out of steam. From NFL running back to cross country runner.

Also, to the ones saying you couldn't blow people out on NBA jams, their was one spot you could jump and block any shot and not be a goal tend. I would never win a game by less than 30 points on Sega. Gotta have juice mode!

Super Tennis!! Needs more love in this thread. Pure 1 on 1 match of skill.

The later tennis games on Dreamcast that used the same model/physics (not retro) were also amazing.

My grandmother used to pick up random obscure games at garage sales for me when I was a kid. I remember never hearing of anything she found...probably why there were at garage sales. For some reason I loved this game. Music was awesome to.

How well does that work? I know PC emulators do a great job with most NES games. Sega, not quite as good. Atari, OK. Commodore, a few hits and a lot of misses.
