So 150+ live matches over the course of a season, plus 600+ hours of soccer specific coverage across 6 different channels is not mainstream?
kind of. But not really. It's not like you'll turn on ESPN radio and hear them talking about the latest Chicago Fire or New York Red Bulls game or anything.
Take a poll on this board. I guarantee you most people couldn't name any MLS teams (excuse me "clubs") other than New york, the galaxy, dynamo and the sounders.

So are you blaming soccer or Europeans? Not everyone in Europe plays soccer just like every American doesn't play football.
It's a cultural thing. Not all americans play football, but many understand and relate to it.
Same in Europe and SA.

But soccer isn't mainstream so why exclude any teams?
Which way do you want it chief?

Or I could go to ESPN2 and watch some preseason soccer.
ESPN2 also shows spelling bees and fricking poker. I wouldn't look too much into that.

No, but you could turn your TV to ESPN2 right now and watch a meaningless preseason friendly.

Does Fox national have that? Because they have soccer.

dynamo is listed because I live in Houston and hear the radio station basically begging and giving away tix.
The galaxy is heard of because of beckham.
It's still not that mainstream when only 4 or 5 teams are known by the general public. Most people could name at least 15-20 NFL teams and MLB teams.

Y'all quit presenting this man with facts.

No you don't, go look at the Dynamo's average attendance.
Whatever helps your (failing) argument, though, right?

you guys are going to sit there and honestly say soccer is as mainstream to the public as baseball, basketball, and football?
it's not really a mainstream sport and it wont grow into one until more black kids in the US get into it and the best players in the world play here. Nobody wants to watch the fricking soccer minor leagues.
WTF is a friendly? and you guys say it isn't pussified?

The Dynamo have more season ticket holders and a higher average attendance than the Astros

Yeah, because the lack of black kids has really killed the "mainstream" appeal of NHL and Golf here in the States.
You're ignorance shows no limit.

If the astros weren't the worst team in history it wouldn't even be close. But, Houston has a lot of foreigners, gays, and libs, so soccer should be popular here.

That's not the requirement, else baseball wouldn't be "mainstream".

MLS is a top 10 league in the world.

The NHL is extremely regional and not all that popular.

Ah, using terms like "foreigners, gays, and libs", go finish your 6 pack of bud heavy and change the screen door to your trailer while you're at it.

Tiger Woods is at white as it gets.

OMGZ! So I'm watching maybe the 10th best league with 2nd rate players? MLB and NFL are both the best leagues in the world. (NFL is the only but still)
