UGA gave up a long TD pass, both over 50 yards, in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter in back to back bowl games after the 81 and 82 seasons. If they hadn't given up those 2 plays, their resume from 80-83 would be:
45-2-1 with 3 SEC championships, 2 national titles, a Sugar Bowl win, and a cotton bowl win.

The coach would have put in Uncle Rico.

1984. SC was 9-0, ranked #2 in the country. Beat teams like UGA, FSU, and Notre Dame. All we had to do was beat a bad Navy team and we would have an invite to the national title game, regardless of the Clemson game the following week. We choked against Navy. Didn't get the invite.
I believe we beat Navy in '83, '85, and '87. But that one loss kept us out of our closest chance to a national title game.
(went on to beat Clemson, lose the Gator Bowl to Ok. State to finish 10-2)

now you are missing the point. he doesn't have the same stats on a different team and hence is not viewed as the same type of star that he is currently.
Again, the way he is "viewed" does not change who he is as a player
And I don't buy that he wouldn't make huge stats as the #2 in detriot.

Exactly, and Tate, while a really good player, is not on OBJs talent level

he did, but he would not have put up the same #s as the #2 WR in Detroit.
He doesn't have the season that he does with the NYG without Victor Cruz going down...and who knows how it would have turned out otherwise. Coulda/shoulda/woulda!

that was a real good team..........

David Thompson never does drugs. The 1970s were the golden age of drug casualties in pro sports, but none bigger than David Thompson. He was Jordan before Jordan, and could be considered the greatest player of all time had he not devoted his career to trying to snort the foul line.
he was amazing..........

Not the biggest by any means, but how close was Butler to upsetting Duke? Imagine if that ball went in.

Earnest Byner doesnt fumble Im 1988 vs Den win the SB that year
Love and Irving healthy vs the Warriors Cavs win NBA Title in 5
Miami wins the 2003 Natty if Terry Porter doesnt throw that flag
Instant replay would have overturned the "Immaculate Reception".

I think LSU was looking for a coach when Spurrier was hired at both UF and SC. I don't think there was any contact between the two parties in 2005, but either way.. imagine.

Quincy Carter and Jasper Sanks should have been an ungodly college backfield. Carter was a cokehead and Sanks was always injured.
What if DJ Shockley doesn't sprain his knee against Arkansas in 2005? Georgia certainly beats Florida with him in that game and probably beats Auburn with him at 100%.
What if the Falcons keep the #5 pick in 2001 and take LaDainian Tomlinson instead of trading the farm for Vick? (That this didn't happen makes me want to vomit)
What if the Steelers drafted hometown Dan Marino at 21 in 1984?
This list could go on forever.

Dr. J was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks, after his rookie season in the ABA, though the Atlanta Hawks actually had him under a contract, claiming he was a UFA for purposes of signing.
Lawsuits flew back and forth, and Dr. J stayed in the ABA; the Bucks, who had Lew Alcindor and the tail end of Oscar Robertson's career, would have had a 3 time ABA MVP/1 time NBA MVP to pair with the generation's greatest player, Kareem. Would it have been enough to keep him in place, if the Bucks were following the Great Celtics Dynasty with one of their own, that could have won a half dozen or more titles in the 70s?
