Outside of UF beating everyone’s arse in those years any team in the SEC had a chance to beat anyone any given Saturday. I could name every player on the 2 deep roster for Auburn. Kids watching these days will never get experience college football like then. The idea of your star QB WR or RB transferring out was unheard of

The 00s for me but I'm a little biased seeing as those were my formative years. I feel like college football started to go off the rails in the summer of 2010 when conference expansion/reshuffling began in earnest.

Loved this duo.

90s definitely was an inflection point.

College football really took off in a huge new way in the late '80s and '90s thanks to cable. I mean it was always a big sport before that but the advent of cable brought it to levels unseen before.

Most people don't remember that before cable sports were a thing you would be lucky to see your team play a game on television maybe once a season. If you didn't go to the game in person you were stuck listening to it on the radio.

There was sort of a 20 to 25 year range of the golden era of really big time college football as a boom.

The four team playoff was the first big crack in the dam and the NIL and portal stuff are when the dam broke.

90’s and 00’s had it perfect, No NIL, no transfer portal, you redshirt, develop and start winning. Win out you’re in, lose, you now don’t control your destiny. 12-0 Mid majors play a prestiges bowl against a blue blood. Other than 04’ Auburn, no one really truly got left out.

I’ll give the 90’s a slight edge over the 80’s.. the 80’s were really good. The college game was really coming of age. More stations, superstars all over the place.

There was a regional SEC maybe ACC College football package I think it was partnered with CBS but the broadcast rights were owned by something else

Basically 90s and 00s were best. I liked the BCS and the 00s were good for LSU so I’ll go with 00s.

The SEC from 2006-2013 was pretty wild. Went from Florida and Tebow to the Bama dynasty, and then Johnny Football and the kick six with a LSU and Auburn natty thrown in there. The Cam Newton drama was message board history, even extending beyond sports. 2012 SEC title might be the GOAT game.

There was always something thrilling going on.

Mid 90’s to 2019

It’s been all down hill since then. And down hill fast
