We would want the best bang for the buck. Have not been to Houston since 2006, and might not be back for a while.
Pinkertons, Truth, J-Bar-M all sound like great options.

Can't go wrong with any of them, EaDo probably wasn't a thing when you were last in Houston. It is worth checking out before and after the game.

Pit Room

Get the brisket, ribs and jalapeño cheese link

Sub the slice of bread for a tortilla

Elote and green beans or okra on the side.

Im surprised nobody mentioned Cobos. Walkable distance but I am not sure they have exactly what he listed.

Before a game? This would put you driving at around 4:30-5? Do you even live in Houston?

Not bbq. It's burgers.

I've really been wanting to try Cobos. But it's not exactly regular BBQ. I think they're best known for brisket quesadillas, boudin nachos...that kind of fusion stuff.

Another vote for Pinkerton's here. They also have a liquor license and good whiskey selection which most of the others mentioned here lack if i remember correctly.

I asked for recommendations for our Astros trip earlier this month:

The Pit Room for BBQ was great. The elote and okra were outstanding too.

Exactly. Im not sure if they have regular BBQ on the menu or not but being right there is a big plus.

Cobo's bbq in EaDo is only a few blocks away. Great pregame spot for Minute Maid.

Pit room is great and in that part of town.

Blood brothers in bellaire is excellent.

Goode company is just decent (local chain that has various places like Mexican, seafood, bbq all of which are named “Goode”).

Demeris is decent. Kinda an old school feeling place. But nothing special

That’s all I got
