That is the top 3. Stupid to even try and pretend otherwise

It's not stupid to cut Bird if you're going positionally. He was most naturally a SF, and had McHale and Parish at PF and C.

At SF, LeBron is better than Bird. That's what keeps Bird out, not that he wasn't great.

It's like SG. There are a lot of great players like Jerry West, etc that just aren't Jordan.

I can't take Magic or Stockton or any other PG when I've already got LeBron.

LeBron
Jordan
Bird
Durant
Hakeem

I can score and defend at will.

Why no LeBron? I get not wanting another Jordan/LeBron debate, but if you aren't putting LeBron as a starter on an all time team, you're just dumb.

Albeit a slightly different conversation than the GOAT, I think LeBron HAS to be your #1 pick in an all-time player draft. His versatility allows you to build your team however you'd like. He's Magic Johnson with a jumper.

That might spark another Jordan/LeBron fight, but I agree with your logic. LeBron has an edge in versatility and being a facilitator when compared to MJ and I'd rather start with a more versatile facilitator because it gives greater freedom for the remainder of your personnel.

That doesn't mean LeBron is better, but he's easier to build around. Jordan got a perfect complement in Pippen, but LeBron lets you have more flexibility because he can play multiple positions and either be a primary scorer or facilitator or maybe both.

I have zero problem with this... However I am NOT and all-time starting 5 person... Look at the 2004 Lakers... An all-star team that got beat in 5 games by a decent Pistons teams.....

1. Magic
2. Jordan
3. Larry Legend
4. Russell
5. Kareem

No combo in history can beat that lineup.

Bird, Dirk, and Duncan are the ones I’m most thinking twice about replacing Davis with

If you had Bird or Dirk (tough tough call but probably Bird) I think I’d go with Kobe and just let Kobe, Jordan, Durant, or Bird just get it and go.

New starting 5:

1. Kobe
2. Jordan
3. Durant
4. Bird
5. Shaq

I'm going with this, but I'm taking out Hakeem and putting in Kobe.

Duncan can play the 5 fine when need be, Lebron can play a 4 and the size on that team is huge without a true center anyway:

Magic 6'9
Jordan 6'6
Kobe 6'7
Lebron 6'8
Duncan 6'11

That is a huge team with 5 athletes that can all run the floor, all shoot from the outside, can all post up and basically all play 3 or 4 different positions except Duncan who can just play 2. Not too mention 4 defensive MVPs at some point in their career.

My team is going to run up and down the court at a breakneck pace and destroy on D like a pack of piranhas.

Also I dont want Shaq or even Kareem. Great big men, but my team wants to run all game and destroy all. Ain't got time for a slow center.

Timmy isn't exactly swift.
