Notice that the poster I was replying to was highlighting the sacks stat as one of the worst ever for a winning QB (his words). It was a point about it being extraordinarily difficult to win when the defense is as stout as it was tonight. It was meant to be a compliment on Burrow.

They only have one RB on the field at a time, so they’re going to basically play without a RB on plays when Henry is in if they’re just using him as a decoy. Yeah, that sounds like what they’re trying to do. Good grief, use your critical thinking skills.

Listen to your betters son, you got played, I tried to help you

I repeat, if the Titans had kicked that XP in the first half, they would have knelt out the clock by now.

Didn’t understand that myself…weird.

Yeah the two point lead doesn't do anything for you; you always take the guaranteed one point. Its freaking coaching 101 in dog fight playoff game.

Analytics payoff in the aggregate, but I’m just not sure it works for games like football.

In baseball, you have several thousands of at-bats from a 26 different men on a roster a season. In football, you have maybe 550 attempts from 1 QB and maybe 500 or so rushing attempts from group of 4-5 RBs.

I’m not really sure you’re getting enough statistical power from analyzing a football team the way you do a baseball team.

Edit: The receiving corps may be the only group of players open to effective statistical analysis. You have 5 different receivers going out into patterns on 500-600 passing plays season. You should have a good feel for what players are open what percentage of the time on what routes in what coverage on what down and distance.

Now we know,

Getting sacked 9 times is better than getting intercepted 3 times.

For all the stat geeks.

Going for 2 in almost every case should be to go up by 7 or 2 scores in a game with 5min left.

Way too many variables when the other team has 2 or more opportunities to drive the ball.
